This is my first time doing cheer. My coach gave us the option to choose from Varsity Spirit Charge or Ascend Air shoes. I’ve never bought cheer shoes so I don’t know which will be more comfortable/how to choose sizing.

Does anyone know of places I can try these shoes on in person?

Alternatively, do you have any advice about this brand running big or small? With these two shoes specifically, anything positive or negative to say about them?

I’m going to be on my college’s cheer team, but I’ve never cheered before. I was wondering what clothes are acceptable for me to wear. I’ll be a flyer if that makes a difference.

Obviously it should be athletic clothing. For shorts, I’m thinking biker shorts and 2-in-1 shorts are okay. I’m guessing nothing too baggy that’ll show anything when hitting body positions.

For tops, I’m assuming I shouldn’t wear anything oversized or loose. Is it okay to wear just a sports bra? Other than that, do I have to wear cropped tops or can it be a tight full length top (like a lululemon align swiftly tech tee shirt)?

I know I can’t wear any jewelry or have long nails, is there anything else I should know?

My job is offering to pay for a TB skin test, but I’ve only ever had the blood test. Is the skin test much worse? Is it more uncomfortable than a vaccine? Have you had any side effects from it?

What is your favorite app for picking up shifts in Pittsburgh or Chicago? So far I’ve tried clipboard and there never seems to be anything close to me. I’ve heard bad things about Nursa.
