I love my port

I've been on infliximab for six years. Due to extensive scar tissue, getting a vein became very difficult, requiring 3+ attempts at every infusion. And then once they finally got the IV in my arm, they could barely draw blood through it.

I got my chest port two weeks ago and it was accessed for the first time at my infusion today. It's a night and day difference. I was so used to the repeated sticks that I didn't even realize how good it could be. The needle will go in with one try every time. They drew my blood samples so quickly and easily. I can now wear a hoodie while I'm infusing AND bend my arms as much as I want. It's a small miracle.

Just wanted to let y'all know, if you're on forever infusions like me with a potential for a port in the future, you don't have to be afraid of it. It such a helpful thing.
