UGC newbies who started with literally 0 followers… how did you get past this stage?
Hello! UGC newbie here! 👋
I've done a ton of research and have finally taken the first few steps, but there's still one thing I'm feeling pretty anxious about.
I made completely new IG and TikTok accounts after seeing a lot of creators recommend keeping your UGC stuff separate, so both accounts are literally starting from 0.
I know UGC isn't supposed to be about follower count, but I'm sure seeing someone apply with less than 100 followers has to be a little bit of a turn off to brands, no? 😭
Every time I come across another new UGC creator, they somehow already have way more followers and engagement than I do, so I'm sitting here wondering what exactly I'm supposed to be doing to grow.
To be fair, I literally just started posting yesterday, so it's VERY possible that I just need to keep posting and give it time. But I've also already started pitching through OnBento, X and here on Reddit, and I keep thinking about what happens if a brand actually likes my pitch, goes to my profile and sees how new it is.
I'm quite literally at 9 followers on IG and 13 on TikTok right now so we're not even talking about a somewhat established account.
For anyone who also started completely from scratch, how did you get through this stage? Did you just keep pitching anyway? Did brands care? And how did you start getting those first followers when you had basically no audience to begin with?
I'm trying my best to push through the slight embarrassment of how tiny the numbers are because I know everyone has to start somewhere. I think I just need to hear from people who actually started at 0 too and made it past this awkward stage.
Thank you to everyone who took the time reading my rambles. 😅
