School counselor to LPC in Virginia?
Hi, everyone. I'm a school counselor in VA, and I am trying to branch out and earn my LPC. My degree is CACREP-accredited, but I am missing 3-4 classes. Did anyone else in VA pursue LPC licensure after?
I'm taking the classes that I lack this year, but I am wondering if I would need to redo my internships in a clinical setting. In terms of hours, my school counseling internships through my university were the same as the LPC internships in terms of assignments and hours. We had to develop treatment plans, counsel individually and in groups, and our hours were the same as the clinical requirements.
I've tried emailing the VA board a couple times over the last several months, but I haven't heard anything. Just trying to get some feedback more than anything else as I am very interested in leaving public education. Almost everything I do is non-counseling, and it is not my cup of tea. I was a teacher before this.
