How am I supposed to build my credit score if I'm denied a college student recommend credit card?

I'm 21 and I applied for my first credit card, one made specifically for collage aged people and people with no credit. Igot a letter back saying I was denied because of my lack of previous credit. How am I supposed to build my credit if the way everyone recommended to me denies me?

edit to add: im completely alone family wise, I dont have parents, so they can't add me on as an authorized user or get a card under their account.
