NSFW. Pitbull Attacked my son. Norman, Oklahoma 8/15/26
My son was staying with his grandma overnight. She took him to the park this morning so that he could play and have some fun before coming home to see his two week old sister than mom and I have been up all night taking care of. While they were at the park, which is next to a school, and walking on the sidewalk there a pitbull escaped its backyard as they walked past and ran straight at my son and bit him on his face. He is okay and surprisingly happy all things considered.
Sharing a photo of what just one bite did to my beautiful boy and I’m so thankful his grandma was able to get him safely away and it wasn’t worse.
I’m looking for any support/advice not only for my son but for his mother who is post-partum and myself and what all we should do for our son to help him mentally as well. Thank you. Norman, Oklahoma 8/15/26.
Update
We spoke with the local authorities and started the process of pressing charges while at the hospital. A kind gentleman from the Animal Welfare met us at the hospital and went with grandma who was present for the attack to identify the dog and house it came from. While they were there the dog was super aggressive through the fence and they confronted the owners. Nearby neighbors told animal control that the dog has escaped multiple times in the past which he said to us is a major red flag. The dog was seized earlier and I was just informed it’s scheduled to be euthanized so it can’t do this or worse to someone else’s child.
We were informed that because we weren’t there we can’t press charges but my mother in law can which she is already speaking to lawyers specializing in dog attacks about. We’ve received a lot of calls and support from family and I will update or answer any questions in the future. Thank you for the supports
