Cross Marian's weirdo

This was INCREDIBLY glazed over in both the Manga and anime, but Cross is obviously attracted to younger women. It's not a problem (so long as he's not into...y'know) but the weird part is the whole Anita situation.

For those who don't remember, while the crew was in China(?) They encounter a large group on a ship. The leader of the group being a woman named Anita. It's stated that Corss dated Anita.

The weird part comes from the fact the Cross also had a romantic relationship with Anita's mother prior to getting with Anita. So not only did he date her mom and likely watched her grow up (Cross is at least 60+ years old) but he turned around and dated her after her mom died.

Yikes.

Nea and Tyki are weird

The interactions between Nea and Tyki (or rather Joyd) are interesting. You'd think it's just sibling rivalry or massacre beef, but when you dig deeper, it's a lot more than that.

They hate each other (obviously), but what I find interesting is the reasons why they hate each other. There's a panel where Tyki briefly mentions having the Earl's attention and I think that's where this whole issue stemmed from. There's a chance it may even be one of the main reasons why the massacre occurred.

Joyd is obsessed with the Earl, so much so that he likely instigated a fight between Mana and Nea in order to drive a wedge between them. You may be thinking that there's no solid proof of this, but we have a huge piece of evidence.

Point and case: Tyki's appearance. It has been mentioned numerous times (by Wisley, Road, and even Nea himself) that Tyki looks like Nea. If Joyd hates Nea that much, why go through lengths just to find a host that looks like him?

Unless it's to get the Earl's attention.

We're all aware that Mana was a devout brother, he truly cared for Nea, which is why he goes into psychosis after devouring Nea. He can't cope with the fact that he killed someone he loved. Joyd is aware of that fact and actively uses it to his advantage.

And it works.

The Earl always refers to Tyki (in Japanese sub) as "Tyki-pon". Not "kun" or "chan" but "pon". It's quite literally and endearment. He adores Tyki. And we've all seen that pieces of Mana occasionally show within the Earl (1.He revives Alma Karma because he "misses" Nea, 2) He escaped the carriage to find Nea because he felt Nea's presence).

The Earl (or rather his subconscious, Mana) isn't aware of his actions, his desire to see Nea constantly overwhelms him.

So what better way for his subconscious to cope with Nea not being there than to obsess over his look-alike?

I love how Kei Urana depicts POC.

Kei Urana states that Jabber doesn't have a tragic backstory, and honestly, I think that's great. It's typical for the villain/anti-hero to have something tragic happen to them, leading to the beliefs and ideals they have *cough Zodyl* so to see a character who's crazy for literally no reason is refreshing.

It strays away from the stereotype that a good villain needs to be tragic. Some people are just batshit. That's all there is to it. Plus, as a person of color, it gets boring seeing every character of color (in multiple forms of media, not just anime) having a shitty backstory.

Like, no, some black people live in the Suburbs and have a pool, I promise you that not all of us live in poverty. Another reason why I enjoy Jabber not having a tragic backstory is because it makes him more interesting as a person of color. His actions can't be explained or excused by saying "oh, but this happened to him" because nothing happened to him. He just woke up one day and started tweaking.

There's also the cultural aspect of seeing BIPOC representation that isn't in a negative light. Jabber isn't depicted an a manner that's assigned to BIPOC. Semiu isn't depicted as masculine because she's attracted to women. And how could I forget, making the one character all of the Cleaners look up to a POC?

Kei Urana I love you.

Chp.169 has a bit more religious imagery

>!I doubt Kei Urana will kill off Enjin considering how pivotal he is to the story, plus killing him now would decrease Tamsy's chances of provoking Rudo further.!<

>!Anyway, I was a bit confused as to why Enjin couldn't be healed, but when you think about it, it's kind of (?) obvious?!<

>!The way Alto describes the Watch heavily reminds me of the phrase "Do unto other as you want done unto you" which is derived from the Bible. There's been a lot of hints at religious imagery, so for now, I'll go down that route.!<

>!The reason Enjin can't be healed is because Mymo was not healed. We already know that whatever you do during TimeWalk reflects back onto yourself, so if someone dies from a fatal injury (Mymo), the person who inflicted that injury would naturally suffer the same fate, hence why Enjin can't be healed. While Mymo didn’t bleed out like Enjin currently is, Mymo also didn't heal, and was subsequently killed by Rudo. I feel like if Mymo had survived that injury, Enjin would have survived as well.!<

A hint at Zodyl's backstory

Slight spoilers for those who haven't read the manga.

We know little to nothing about majority of the characters, but Kei Urana did something pretty funny with Zodyl's backstory. We know he hates the Sphere, as most people who live on the Ground do, but he's actively taking steps to destroy the Sphere, seperating him from everyone else in the series.

During his discussion with Rudo inside of the trash beast, Zodyl brings Rudo down to earth (pun intended) by mentioning the struggles of people who live of the Ground. He also mentions that there's a group of people who are enigmas.

People who worship the destruction caused by trash storms. People who will actively go out into a storm to prove their faith. During this scene, it flashed to a group of people praying in joy as trash drops onto them. We can see one worshiper holding a child with dark hair who's obviously trying to escape the storm. The trash falls and we are taken beck to Zodyl and Rudo.

I believe that child was Zodyl. The reason why he despises the Sphere is not just because of the destruction and death it brings, but also because his family worshipped it. There's a chance Zodyl may have had siblings who were killed by a trash storm/beast and his parents felt nothing but happiness.

If this theory is true, it gives us a much deeper understanding of Zodyl and why he acts the way he does.

A theory about the Watchman Series

I marked a few things as spoiler just to be safe.

Throughout the anime and manga, we've been given essentially no information about the Watchman and its series, but the most recent chapters have given a few things that I find extremely interesting.

First and foremost, both Alto and Canis Surebrec's statuses are unknown. It hasn't been explicitly stated that they're dead, but the way their scenes were written heavily imply they are.

What I do find interesting is the fact that using numerous pieces of the Watchman series grants you immense power but at the cost of yourself. It seems that using multiple pieces either wears down/destroys your body or drains your lifespan. >!There's a chance that it even erases your physical existence. If that's true, it would explain how Alto and Canis simply vanished. The effects would be bad for anyone using one or two pieces, now imagine Canis and Alto who possessed the entire set. !<

>!If the body's destruction is a side effect of using multiple pieces of the series, there's a chance that it can be passed down similar to the way Jinki are passed down. This could explain why Rudo's arms are so damaged but I feel like I could be reaching there.!<

I'm willing to bet on the series erasing your physical existence because we've seen it happen. Noerde. When she crosses the threshold between the Ground and Sphere, what happens? The Watchman literally erases her.

Perhaps I'm reaching, but this is just something I've been thinking of for a while.>!!<

Jabber Wonger is a Genius

Yall, can we please talk about Jabber being a literal genius?? It's a bit subtle unless you read into it, but Jabber is incredibly intelligent despite the way he portrays himself.

During his fight with Rudo, he was able to piece together that Rudo's temporary Jinki revolved around intent. He then poisons himself, relying on instinct rather than intent.

He likely has a background in toxicology/pharmaceuticals with the way he's not only able to use poisons but able mix them together and create certain effects (i.e, mixing a poison that paralyzes victims and gives them hallucinations). He's capable of doing this ON THE FLY as seen with his second (or rather third?) Fight with Zanka inside of the Trash Beast.

It's one thing to be able to use poisons, but Jabber is able to figure out what they do AND how to counteract them (though most of that credit goes to Mankira).

As I said, he's doing all this while fighting people. I'd say that qualifies as a genius trait.
