is the English translation of Ang-Ang/“Hard-Boiled Love” worth paying for?
I don’t have a lot of experience with Korean BL novels, but I absolutely loved the manhwa Hard-Boiled Love (alternatively titled ‘Ang-Ang’)!!! It totally checked all my boxes in terms of character dynamics and the art was beautiful. It got me interested in reading the original novel it was based on, especially since the climax of the story kind of confused me. I was going to buy the first volume on Amazon but a lot of the reviews said that the quality of the official English translation was disappointing, at times difficult to parse, and overall not worth the price. Do people here agree? And is this a common issue with official English translations of Korean BL novels? Am I better off sticking to AO3 in this situation? And do you have any recs for someone who loves when big tough guys are secretly subs??? Thanks so much!!! ☺️
