6 Months of Rent upfront
I’m a 19 y/o student looking to rent an apartment in Toronto. My realtor has informed me that the landlord to my building requires 6 months of rent upfront to accept my application and settle the lease. This is my first time leasing and I don’t know what the standards are. My realtor says the landlord is asking this because I don’t have full-time employment and because I am a student.
Does that seem accurate? Are they allowed to ask that? Should I proceed with caution?
