In 1942 off the shore of Florida German subs sunk unescorted Mexican oil tankers supplying the US. Which resulted in Mexico creating Escuadron 201 also known as the “Aztec Eagles” to fight in the pacific theater. Utilizing the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bombers they flew over 90 combat missions.
