1st-time full time student – is this course load manageable?

this fall will be my first time studying full-time at langara, and I'm registered in: ENGL 1123, BIOL 1111, PSYC 1115, and CMNS 1115. i'm wondering if taking all four together is manageable, especially for someone who hasn't taken a full-time course load before.

for anyone who has taken any of these courses: how heavy was the workload? which course took the most time outside of class? were the assignments, readings, and exams manageable? did you have enough free time while taking these courses?

thanks!

APT Living

Has anyone lived in APT Living? How was your experience there?

I checked their website and saw studio/micro units listed around $1050/month. The units look very small (around 150 sq ft), so I’m trying to understand what it’s actually like in practice.

How is the living space, privacy, noise, and overall building condition? Is the rent stable or are there hidden costs?

Any honest experiences would help.

CHEM 1118

Has anyone taken CHEM 1118 at Langara before? How was the course overall in terms of difficulty, workload, labs, and exams? Also, are there any instructors you'd recommend (or avoid)? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any tips for succeeding in the course.

Looking for Premed Major Advice

I'm currently a 1st year General Science student in
BC and I haven't chosen a major yet. I'm planning to apply to medical school in the future.

I wanted to ask if there are any specific majors that are considered more manageable or "GPA-friendly" while still allowing me to complete med school prerequisites. My main goal is to choose something where I can maintain a strong GPA.

Any recommendations or advice from people who have gone through the premed path in Canada would be really appreciated.

BIOL 1111 + CHEM 1118 + PHYS 1114 together?

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of taking BIOL 1111, CHEM 1118, and PHYS 1114 next semester. Has anyone taken these at the same time?

How was it overall? Was the workload manageable or did it get pretty overwhelming with labs, assignments, and exams all together?

I’m on a scholarship so I have to stay full-time (at least 9 credits), so I don’t really have the option to take fewer courses. I’m just trying to get a realistic idea of what I’m getting myself into.

Also, I don’t have the math prerequisite yet and I’m currently preparing for the MDT 2, so I’m a bit worried about juggling everything at once.
Would really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

I had a dream about a stranger…

So this happened a few months ago and it's still one of the weirdest things Ive experienced.

In the dream, I was just casually talking to this guy. It felt completely normal, like we were friends or had known each other for a while. The weird part is that I had never seen him before (at least not that I can remember). Then somehow I ended up with his ID card, and I could clearly see his full name and date of birth. For some reason, those details stuck with me after I woke up. Out of curiosity, I tried searching for the name later. At first I wasn't even sure if I remembered it correctly, but after some digging I actually found a profile that matched the name... and the guy looked exactly like the person from my dream.

I know that sounds crazy, but that's honestly what happened.

I never reached out to him because that would be incredibly awkward and weird. Imagine getting a message from a random stranger saying, "Hey, I dreamed about you and somehow knew your name.” 💀

Has anyone else experienced something like this? A dream where you met someone you'd never seen before and then later found a real person who looked exactly like them? I'm genuinely curious if there's any explanation for this or if my brain just pulled off the weirdest coincidence ever lol.

Do I still have a chance at UBC Med?

Hey guys, I’m currently a 1st year student at Langara doing General Science, and my dream is to eventually get into UBC Med. My path has been a bit different though. I dropped out of high school, so when I started at Langara I had to spend a lot of time doing prerequisites and upgrading courses. It's been about 3 semesters already and I'm still working through some of them before I can fully focus on my science courses. Lately I've been feeling a bit stressed because it seems like everyone else is already moving ahead while I'm still catching up. I'm worried that because I dropped out of high school and have spent so much time on upgrading, I might be putting myself at a disadvantage. Has anyone here had a similar experience or know someone who took a nontraditional path into university/med school? Do I still have a realistic shot at UBC Med if I do well from here on out? Would love to hear any advice or experiences :)

Moving Out for School - Looking for StudentAid BC Experiences

Hello people, I'm a 1st-year student at Langara. Right now I'm only taking one course and still living with my family, but next semester I'm planning to switch to full-time studies. The thing is, I live pretty far from campus, so I've been thinking about moving somewhere closer to Langara. I also work part-time, but I'm not sure if StudentAid BC would provide enough funding to help cover rent and other living expenses if I move out. Has anyone here been in a similar situation? If you were getting StudentAid BC and renting a place, was the funding enough, or did you have to rely a lot on your job too? Just trying to figure out if moving closer is realistic financially. Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated.
