We've got to talk about this (name)

The only thing I don't like about Super Productivity is the name, Super Productivity.

  • It makes it very difficult to introduce the app to others. It does not make sense when used within a sentence ("I'm a fan of super productivity"), so it is uncomfortable and awkward to explain that it is actually the name of the software.
  • The name is not that searchable (OK, current search engines will not have problems here, but for example searching for Productivity on Google Play will not show apps whose title contains the word productivity).
  • It is a slogan, not a name. As a slogan, fine, sure, I'll take Super Productivity. As a name? I have nothing against using full English words in a name, but this just lacks any distinction.
  • But it's just a descriptive name? Not really. Super Productivity implies some sort of cruel self-exploitation technology, not an accessible tool for people to have better control over their time.
  • It might be more awkward for non-english speakers.

But it isn't nearly worth it to change it now? You're right. The only name change I can think of that wouldn't require a full rebranding would be something like Super Prod. (or SuperProd, etc).

But that's not a great name either? It is at least a distinct, identifiable name, I don't think it's too bad, and it is already how the Android app is listed in the home screen.

But isn't this just a minor change then? Yes, that's sort of the idea.

Still, maybe this whole thing is just something that I must get over and there's nothing wrong with Super Productivity at all.
