I am planning to walk from Boulder, CO to New Orleans, LA. Most of this journey will not follow any established recreational trail, and of course public land becomes more scarce the further east you go. So my main concern is figuring out where to camp. Obviously in urban areas I'm worried about being bugged by cops if I try to set up in a park or something. And a lot of the walk will cross agricultural land where pitching a tent in a random field will not be met kindly, either. So, has anyone done this type of long trip? How did you find safe places to sleep for a night? Thanks!
