Anyone try doing a local event for backers while running their campaign? (NYC Plant Market)

Hey r/kickstarter,

Quick strategy question for the community. We are currently running/preparing our campaign for Florev—a biodegradable, eco-friendly plant self-hydrator that uses 5g stick packs to keep plants watered for weeks.

We just got confirmed as a vendor for the upcoming NYC Plant Market (https://nycplantmarket.com/), which is a massive outdoor botanical event with live music, food, and drinks.

We are treating this as our big local push to drive backers, show live product demos, and build community trust.

Has anyone here done a local market or pop-up while active? Did you offer any special "local-only" physical rewards, or just point them to the main Kickstarter tier via a QR code? I'd like to know whether the conversion rates justify the logistical effort of running a physical booth while managing an online campaign.

As we have sample stock available, I was thinking of selling on the spot. We still have so much to cover in the campaign at this point, so I am not afraid to not cover KS. So, what do you guys think?

Launched Our Kickstarter and Getting Tons of Spam/Cancelled Pledges — What Are We Doing Wrong?

Hey everyone — looking for honest feedback more than promotion at this point.

We launched our Kickstarter for FLOREV™, a self-hydrating planter system:
Kickstarter Campaign

But this campaign cycle has honestly felt strange compared to what I expected. We’re getting a surprising amount of people backing, leaving comments/messages like “let’s connect” or promo-type stuff, and then cancelling their pledge shortly after. It’s starting to feel like Kickstarter has become more spam/networking than actual backers discovering projects organically.

So I wanted to ask the community directly:

  • Is there anything unclear about the campaign page?
  • Does the product itself feel uninteresting or confusing?
  • Is there something missing that would make you trust or understand it more?
  • Is the messaging bad?
  • Would you personally back something like this? Why or why not?

I’d genuinely appreciate blunt feedback. We’ve spent a long time building this, and outside opinions are probably more valuable right now than marketing advice.

Thanks.

Need honest opinion on active kickstarter plant lover campaign. Seems stuck

We launched a few days ago and seriously only got $200. We set the ball down as we are actually paying from our side to make this work later for store shelves.

We only asked for $2K, assuming we get backers to that point in a day. Seems like not the case. We put a lot into the campaign and even have ads running, but it seems like traffic just passes by.

Any thoughts? I mean, this is for anyone who killed their house plants before--which is like every 9 out of 10 people. Those who travel a lot are tired of asking someone to water their plants.

Tell us as you see it.

Hey r/kickstarter – Feedback wanted on our FLOrev™ Coming Soon page! 🌱

Hey everyone,

I'm getting ready to launch my first Kickstarter for Florev™ – a simple, effective plant self-hydrator. Just drop one of the 5g sticks into your pot and keep your flowers and plants perfectly hydrated for weeks with no additional watering needed.

Each pouch (approx. 150x210x50mm) comes with 25 handy sugar-stick-style packs (35x100mm) – super convenient for home gardeners, busy plant parents, and anyone who hates watching their greens wilt.

Here's our Coming Soon page:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wescreenio/florevtm-plant-self-hydrator-no-additional-watering

I’d love your honest thoughts before we go live! Specifically:

  • Overall first impression – Does the page make you want to hit “Notify me on launch”?
  • Clarity – Is it easy to understand what FLOrev™ does and how the sticks/pouch system works?
  • Visuals & flow – Anything confusing, missing, or that could be improved (images, description, layout, etc.)?
  • Excitement factor – Does it convey the convenience and benefits well?
  • Any red flags – Things that might hurt conversions or turn off backers?

Any other tips for a strong pre-launch phase are super welcome too! This is my first campaign, so I really appreciate the wisdom from this community. 🙏

Thanks in advance – can’t wait to share more as we get closer to launch!
