ID help and next steps (again)

Hey all,

Cool season, in West Michigan. Last fertilization was July 20. I posted here a few days before that application and growth was slow and was having spots that looked somewhat similar to this and it was ID’d as Anthracnose.

I was walking my lawn today to pin point spots I’ll have to get some top soil to to help level it a bit. I’m planning on doing some leveling and overseeding on Labor Day weekend.

I found this area. There are two spots within a foot of each other (last pic is both spots). Between them is a small hole that actually has they covering it but can be pulled back. Water gets in there and will settle I’ve noticed. Especially after the rain fall we got yesterday. So I’m wondering what this is, and is the hike responsible.

I’ve also never seen anything like this. The turf is well established but it acts as a door for this small hole. When it’s been dry I’ve ventured around it and don’t see anything that looks like an animal did it. So I’m curious is this the result of the a new build or is it an animal?

The two spots the grass seems very fragile and wet and looks like I could pull it all up. I tried to capture that in the pics.

So my question is what is it, what should I do? So I leave the grass that seems to be super fragile or pull it out and overseed it early next month?

Thanks for the help!

Edit: forgot to add it’s near the property line so I think it may be getting some water from neighbor as well

Help with ID and Next steps

Hey there,

Saw a very similar situation to mine from a fellow Michigander earlier this morning and I wanted some feedback as well. I’m noticing some red blades and what looks to be stressed blades?

I got hit with dollar spot last summer so have been trying to be diligent with not over watering. & I haven’t been watering much because of the rain we’ve been getting lately. I did have one time last week where I forgot to shut off irrigation after rain the previous night. Any who- noticing some red patches and stressed areas.

I fertilized last on June 8th. I also applied an early season DMI on April 20th. Curious what ID would be and if I should use another fungicide.

I mistakenly bought Heritage G for an early season DMI but learned that wouldn’t work. Curious if that would be a good shout?

Thanks for the help

ID help and question

Hey all,

I’ve popped in a couple times for ID and it’s ended up being KBG. I’m new too KBG I just overseed this past fall but I’ve run into this little patch here that was a few inches higher than the rest of the grass. Is this KBG or anything to worry about? I know not the best pics but wondering if anyone has a good idea of what it is. Thanks ! In west Michigan
