Was recently in LA (where I used to live) and was really struck about how diner culture is still alive and well there. You can still quite easily find a tuna melt at 1:00am Swingers, Astro, Norms, North Hollywood Diner, Carrows etc etc.

it made me lament the lost late night diners of Oakland: Claremont, Nikos, Hopscotch, the other Buttermilk, even Denny's. What do we think has caused this, and what are there any that still exist that I don't know about?

I know about Piedmont bakery, Blackberry, the remaining Buttermilk, Sequoia (a diner in name, but not really a greasy spoon) the remaining Denny's. Black Bear. Are there any I'm missing?

edit: ButterCUP lol
