How come everyone goes to Capri and sleeps on Ischia?
For decades I've been going to Capri. Both in hotels and yachts. Now it's been two years that, to try something new, I went to Ischia and oh boy.
Last year I went to Hotel Moresco, which is in the city center of the main town. Terrific experience, top notch service, the hotel has a private park, direct sea access and the suites are beautiful. But position definitely is its great bonus, I could basically walk everywere, all the shops, venues and restaurants are extremely close.
This year I went to San Montano, which is quite outside the center but is in a breathtaking position, up on a hill. This is possibly one of the most luxurious places I have ever been. Felt like a king in a palace. And the view is absolutely stunning.
All this to say: why is everyone still only mentioning Capri and the Amalfi coast? You don't know you are snubbing, Ischia is really incredible both in terms of hotels, as well as for the vacation in itself. It also feels way more "real" than Capri or the Amalfi coast, like you can actually see a place inhabited by locals.
