What's going on, is anyone here concerned with how The 8-Bit Guy has not uploaded any videos to his channel? It's been over three and a half months and counting at the time of writing this, what's been going on lately? It used to be the norm for him to post once a month, then later once every one and a half months and now no uploads since June. I'm just perplexed here to be honest.
Just wanted to let this community, specifically those that ordered to the UK, know this: DHL hands over packages to none other than... Evri, when they land in the UK. Yes, you heard me correctly, Evri.
For context:
I had two books sent by Olan. The first time was at a time when he didn't have any of the pre-order covers in Nashville so he sent me an alternative cover. That time, he used Global Post, who handed it over to Royal Mail when it landed in the UK. It was all smooth sailing, I've never had a problem with Royal Mail so it went well as planned.
Some time passes, and I DM Olan again if I should expect to receive the pre-order cover considering he now has them in Nashville, he said yes and shipped one out, but this time around, he used DHL instead of Global Post. What I didn't know, until I checked the tracking, was that DHL had actually handed over the package to Evri. Yes, *that* Evri, the same Evri that is by far the most unreliable courier in the UK (that's not an exaggeration, btw).
Thankfully where I live and from my own personal experience, Evri aren't so bad and I've never had them lose something, including the pre-order cover that arrived today (at the estimated date/time, at the correct address, and undamaged too), though that could just be down to luck of the draw with the town/area I live in, and I understand that I'm in the minority... hence why I think this PSA is useful.
So what I want to say to those that are from the UK and haven't received your order or a tracking number yet: if you don't want to take a chance with Evri, or have had a bad experience with Evri in the past, make sure Olan ships your order via Global Post instead of DHL; as Global Post hands over packages to Royal Mail, while DHL hands over packages to Evri. Only have it shipped through DHL if you have had a good experience with Evri in the past, otherwise stick with Global Post.
Oh and for those who are curious: both times I thankfully had no extra customs charges to pay. Once they landed in the UK, they automatically cleared customs without me having to do anything at all.
For those on iOS, is anyone else here getting an error message saying "Website Not Allowed. “archive.org” is a restricted website."? I'm aware this restriction applied to adult websites, but for some reason it was extended out to Internet Archive so neither this nor the Wayback Machine are accessible. What happened?
I am also unable to switch off the "Content & Privacy Restrictions" option for the reasons explained in this post (since the verification thing doesn't accept debit cards, only credit cards which I don't have) nor does the website work on any browser (believe me, I tried them all).
EDIT: No, for those wondering, it's not an admin issue, an ISP issue, or anything like that. It's an issue with the parental controls settings in iOS which, as I said earlier, I'm unable to switch off. This right here is exactly what I'm seeing when trying to access archive.org in any browser in iOS.
It must have been like three weeks since Olan announced MacMillian finally got into the 40K order range, but three weeks later and it seems like they've made very, very little progress, what's being going on at their end over the past three weeks? The rate at which they've been shipping the books was at a steady rate for the first 30K orders but now it seems like they've stalled and come to a halt, which makes me wonder, what the hell happened?!
