Air Con Vent Ideas

I had ducted a/c installed a few months ago and I am hating this duct style unfortunately. On heating mode, due to the blocked middle it simply pushes air out sideways and creates a warm ceiling area and a freezing floor area. The square grill style ones I've had in the past are far superior at pushing air into a room, but this house had existing ones of this style so I opted not to cut square holes to save on mess, and just refreshed the vents when I got the new AC installed. If I remove the middle disc entirely it works fantastically, but looks like shit... So, before I go down the path of replacing them, I just wanted to see if any ingenious people here had thought of any way to improve them. Any thoughts?
