55g makeover

I have a 55g mbuna tank that needs some love. I currently have 7 fish in there but ordered a handful more that are coming in a few days. I want to do a complete renovation of the tank in advance without harming the beneficial bacteria. Is there a process that will be successful while maintaining the integrity of the water.

By complete renovation I mean, new substrate, clean the glass, clean other hard surfaces. Keeping the rocks in tank water while I do this to try and preserve some health.

I have a solid Peacock show tank that is taking of and i have a 55g tank that I can use. Let me know your thoughts on stocking strategy to promote breeding. I would like to create a colony of sorts. Not just 3 females and one male.

If you have pictures of tank setups that have been really successful, please share, and the species.

What rocks would be best to get to provide the best possible environment? Thanks
