Buying my first machine
Hi guys,
I’m new to faceting. I’ve recently completed a couple courses (1 month total) and I’m hoping to get into building a setup at home. But I’m finding it hard to decide what’s the best machine to go with. I learned to cut with the UltraTec V5, but the machine and shipping to Canada brings me up to about $6k. Not including laps. I’m debating on maybe grabbing the VL digital which would cost me about $1k less but do you think it’s worth it?
Is there a huge difference between both models? Any cheaper machines that perform the same?
I do rent cabbing equipment at a local jeweller, do you think if I manage to set up a separate table mast and just use their laps, it could work??
It’s impossible to find used machines on fb marketplace and everyone I’ve interacted with so far seem scammy, won’t send vids, only take e-transfer or seem to be all using the same photos that they stole of someone’s setup. No luck on E-Bay.
The faceting community in Canada is quite small and it’s difficult to find even machines to rent or equipment sellers within Canada.
I’ve looked around the sub already but if anyone has any advice or any machine recommendations then please let me know! I already work in the jewelry industry so this would be more of a professional hustle (hopefully) and less of a hobby.
