Idea: Reflection Plaza Ice Skating
Reflection Plaza is under utilized. I appreciate the addition of the Community Market in the summer, but it's pretty much a ghost town the rest of the year. I was getting coffee at Compass the other day and thought how cool it would be if the city put on a pop-up ice skating rink for the winter! Charge $5-10. Sell hot chocolate. Maybe even incorporate a rotating cast of vendors a la Christkindlmarket.
Especially with the closing of Lloyd Center, recreational ice skating rinks in the Portland Metro are sparse. Can't think of any outdoor ones at all (maybe the south suburbs?). Just seems like a great opportunity to get people to come check out our city, support our Main Street businesses, and maybe even make a few bucks.
