Went to get glasses for my sister who is abroad, random diagnosis

My sister is abroad and wanted new glasses, so I went to my top notch optician. I just casually asked him to test my eyes. When he went to my left eye on the machine where you look at the balloon, he asked me to cover my right eye without glasses, my left eye was blurry. He put my current number in the left socket, blurry. Asked me not to worry but go to an ophthalmologist and let him check for Keratoconus.

I am confused. I am a technology consultant at a big 4 firm. I love my profession. My wife's uncle is an ophthalmologist, he will check on me on Monday. He says it's not an emergency. I fucking hate this. I am 30m with my first kid on the way. Why didn't anyone or I see this coming? I had been rubbing my eyes a lot.

Seeking help from Gwalior locals: Trying to locate an ancestral Haveli / family roots (Bukhari Syed family)

Dear friends across the border,

I am writing to you from Lahore, Pakistan. My grandfather, Nafees Ahmed, migrated from Gwalior to Lahore during Partition, while some of his siblings settled in Karachi. There is very little family left in Lahore.

Before my father’s untimely passing, he told me that our family had a prominent ancestral Haveli in Gwalior where our cousins continued to live long after 1947. Unfortunately, I recently lost the diary containing our family tree (Shajra). As the eldest of my generation, I am trying desperately to piece our history back together.

Here are the specific clues I have:

  1. The Anchor Name: My great-grandfather's name was Ahmed Waleed.
  2. Family Background: We are Bukhari Syeds (Sadaat). Historically, Syed families in Gwalior lived in specific historic neighborhoods (like old mohallas, near historic Sufi shrines, or near the Gwalior Fort area).
  3. The Landmark: A large, historic family Haveli that belonged to the descendants of Ahmed Waleed.

If anyone is a local history buff, lives near the older quarters of Gwalior, or knows elders from the local Muslim/Syed communities who might remember the family of Ahmed Waleed or the location of such a haveli, please let me know.

Even if you can point me toward the names of historic Muslim mohallas or local historians in Gwalior, it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much!
