Vandoren variety pack. Where to start?

Vandoren variety pack. Where to start?

I usually play Blue Box or V12, strength 3½, on a Pyne closed face mouthpiece from the 1980s, on a Buffet R13. I'm only playing jazz, so recently got a 5JB mouthpiece. It needs a softer reed so I thought I might as well try a few different cuts. Any thoughts or advice on working through them? I'll need to take notes to keep track. For each strength shown in the photo, the other one is ½ less, e.g. V12 is 2½. (Except the blue box, they're two 2½s and two 3s)

How can I convince my neighbor not to cut a tree down?

Any advice welcome! An empty house a few doors down from us has sold. Planning notice has gone up. (This is in Ireland.) A neighbour told me that the buyers are intending to take down the mature trees in their back garden. One tree in particular is huge, and hosts lots of birdlife. A song thrush sings from it most evenings.

How can I convince them not to cut it down?

The house was empty for a few years and does need major work. So I cheekily put a letter through the door months ago, when the Sale Agreed sign went up. It was warm and welcoming, wished them luck with renovations, and politely noted that their majestic trees and songbirds were a cherished part of life on the street. That was ignored or thrown out by the real estate agent or something.

Any suggestions and moral support welcome 🙏 🌳 😢
