15th Ave NE goes car-free tomorrow night for the 18th annual Jazz Walk. Live jazz, food trucks, two free outdoor stages, beer gardens, and a bunch of ticketed indoor venues if you want to go deeper. Weather is looking absolutely perfect - mid-70s, no smoke.

Shoutout to Urbanist Shoreline for running a free bike valet at the event. Ride in and not worry about your bike all night? Yes please.

Parking info: northcityjazzwalk.org/location-parking - Safeway lot, Loyal Automotive/North City Lumber at 1221 NE 175th, and the Center for Human Services lot are all available starting at 5:30 PM.

North City Jazz Walk is Tuesday! We still need a few volunteers for the final shift.

Final call for Jazz Walk volunteers! Tuesday August 11, and the weather is going to be *perfect* - mid 70’s and clean air.

This event runs on about 100 volunteers from four different organizations - Rotary clubs from both Shoreline and LFP, Shoreline Auxiliary Communications, the North City Neighborhood Association, and community partners hosting tents on the street, all coming together to make it happen.  It's genuinely impressive.

We still need a few people for Street Reopening & Takedown (9:45–10:30 PM). Your help is greatly appreciated!

Volunteers needed for the North City Jazz Walk & Street Party — Aug 11!

Hey Shoreline! The North City Jazz Walk & Street Party is one week from tomorrow and we still have a few volunteer slots open. These are genuinely easy, fun gigs — most take 45 minutes or less.

What we need:

  • Venue Monitor (7–8:30 PM or 8:30–10 PM) — Hang out at a ticketed venue, listen to live jazz, check wristbands. Easiest job at the event.
  • Street Closure Setup (5–6:15 PM) — Help place barriers to close the street. About 45 minutes, then you're free for the whole evening.
  • Street Reopening & Takedown (10–10:45 PM) — Same deal at the end of the night. 45 minutes and you're done.
  • Social Media/Photography (anytime 6–9 PM) — Capture the event on your phone or camera for our recap.

North City Arts & Eats Market Cleanup (Round 2!)

Friday June 5th, 4:30–6:30 PM

Next Friday we're having a second (more focused) work party - two hours, two dumpsters, assigned roles so you know what you're walking into.

We've got about half the volunteer slots filled – we just need a bit more help!

Where things stand: The city needs to finalize its selection of the vendor that will manage the site.  That partnership will bring management expertise and additional investment… which combined with the money from the city (thanks to Council), money from the state (thanks to Rep. Davis & Senator Solomon), *and community volunteerism*, will create a new community gathering space in North City just a block away from the light rail station.

Let the boss know you have to leave early on Friday June 5^(th) to do a little volunteer work!

North City did a little spring cleaning this weekend 🧹

20 volunteers turned out Saturday morning and covered a ton of ground - 15th Ave from 24th down to 170th, 180th and 175th, all of 5th Ave NE, 12th Ave, and NE Serpentine Pl. Over 20 bags of trash collected (plus one La-Z-Boy recliner that had no business being there 🛋️).

This was Year 3 of the North City Neighborhood Cleanup - and you can genuinely tell the difference year over year.

If you've been thinking about doing something like this in your neighborhood, it's more doable than you might think. The City of Shoreline will supply volunteers with cleanup kits - bags, gloves, grabbers - you just have to coordinate through your neighborhood association. They'll even dispatch crews to haul away the piles when you're done.

Don't have a neighborhood association? Shoreline has 14 of them - there's almost certainly one covering your area. Reach out, get involved, or just show up. That's how this stuff happens.

We're doing our 3rd Annual North City Cleanup this Saturday, May 9 from 10am to noon. Five routes across the neighborhood, all gear provided by the City of Shoreline (gloves, vests, bags - you just show up).

Meet at Cafe Dolce / Sodam Chicken at 10am to grab your gear and head to your route.

3rd Annual North City Neighborhood Cleanup - Saturday May 9!

The North City Neighborhood Association is hosting our 3rd annual neighborhood cleanup next Saturday, May 9, and we'd love to have you join us!

We've got five cleanup zones across North City. The City of Shoreline is providing all the gear (gloves, safety vests, litter bags) - you just show up. We meet at 10am outside Cafe Dolce / Sodam Chicken and head out from there. It's just two hours on a Saturday morning and makes a real difference.
