Desi ( Indian / Pakistani) t2d friendly meals

I am wondering what all desi with controlled t2d eat. Our food has a lot of carb as every meal goes with roti ( wheat flour ) or bread. Can you all suggest me some t2d friendly meals ?

Sour dough and chili spikes to 216!!

My recent a1c was 5.7 ( a drastic decline from 11.3 ) very happy with my effort but today I had a setback. I ate chili ( no corn) and a single bread slide of sourdough bread and I spiked more than 216. This is my worst reading in three months so I am worried about what went wrong. I checked labels on tomato sauce and paste and they were around 5-6 g carbs per serving. Not sure what went wrong. Planning to see my endo next week to discuss and see if this keeps getting worse I may need more dose

My a1c progress from 11.3 to 5.7 in three months

Three months ago I was totally unexpectedly diagnosed with t2d. I had zero symptoms but my a1c was 11.3. They started me on 1000 mg metformin and later increased to 2000 mg. In this time I completely changed my life style. First month almost no car. After that little bit carb. No rice, almost no bread, no banana or apples. Also started walking a lot ( 8-10 k) steps a day. From last one month I am even regular at gym 5 days a week. Today I got my result and my a1c has drastically reduced to 5.7. I was not expecting it this low because hand pricks do show 160-180 sometimes after means. I will continue my journey but let me know if you have any questions, happy to answer

Cgm vs hand pricked

Hello I recently visited my endo and he increased my dosage for metformin to 2000mg a day. I am wearing a cgm. But after dosage increase it almost show a flat line ( except smaller spikes for meal ) . Today I decided to confirm it with hand prick. It turns out that there is always 20-25 points difference. Handpick is 20 points higher than cgm. For example one hour after brunch, cgm was 133 and hand prick 152. After that cgm when down to 125 and hand pricked 138. This has been continuously going on. It’s not a lag only it looks like cgm is always showing lower numbers. Does it means sensor is messed up ?

Numbers getting worse

Hi all,

For context
First and only a1c : 11.3
Diet after that: very low carb ( 20 g or less)
Exercise: 13k steps a day, walk after each meal
Medication: metformin 1000mg
Diagnosed 6 weeks ago

Until June 10 my cgm and hand prick was showing nice results , overnight almost flat line of 100. Morning numbers 120 ish. Only spike was at 11 am.

Now in recent 4/5 days numbers have tremendously gone bad. Yesterday I finally put another cgm and my nights are now showing to be around 140.

Simple food like cashew is spiking me above 155.

I have a feeling that this trend is getting worse. I am attaching my last night data and for comparison one previous night data.

What should I do? Is this indication of my body getting worse in resistance ?

Diet: anyone here who eats brown rice and protein pasta?

I have changed my diet completely. No rice no pasta no bread. It gets relatively hard because in my culture rice or roti serves as based for every food. But I know it’s not healthy for me. So I have cut them out. I was reading that brown rice which has been cooled is not as high in GI, anyone here tried them ? My appointment with dietitian is next month so trying to figure out till then

Base line elevated

I have been trying to maintain my blood glucose for 5-6 weeks. I had a1c of 11.4. I completely changed my diet. Very low carb. A lot more protien. Walking after every meal 3k steps. I am on 1000 mg metformin.

But even after all this my numbers now are getting worse. My morning peak around 9:30 am was 140 but recently my cgm is showing 165-175. Overnight it was 95-100 but now it’s 110-120. I know it’s slightly worse but I am affraid this is a pattern. I tried calling my pcp and he told me to not worry about it until I cross 180 and stay there.

I am very tired I have done everything right and yet this is not working. I think my metformin dosage should increase but pcp said no this is enough.

Can someone guide if this happened to them ?

Morning spike

Hello I am on 1000 mg metformin for 4 weeks.

Just got myself cgm and noticed that other than some food spikes my levels spike between 9am - 10:30 am. I only have boiled eggs and premium protein shake. On day it rose to 205 I had a bread slice in morning that got accumulated with morning spike.

I informed my pcp but he thinks this is normal. Endo is only available in August

Spike in fasting

Hello folks, I am new to sudden diabetes diagnosis. I had no symptoms but learnt that had a1c of 11. 3 weeks ago I started taking metformin and it was nice on 1000mg with diet and life style changes I was able to drop to 126 fasting. But today I am worried because out of no where my fasting today is 160. Only thing extra I had was chai around 10 pm. Also I noticed it didn't move since last night of 158. Are these spikes normal or should I contact my pcp to increase the dose ?

I started my journey four days ago with a1c of 11.5. I changed my life style completely. Taking only protein rich food. Minimal carbs. Walking after every meal. My fasting sugar dropped from 280-160 yesterday. But today it’s again 188. I am waiting for my cgm. But I wanted to understand if this pattern going from 160-188 is normal. What else I can do? I am on single dose of metformin today and next week it will bump to two and so on. Thanks

Few weeks ago I was in ER due to food poisoning and they found my sugar levels elevated. Later my primary ordered labs and in that I found my a1c is 11. I am shocked because I am just slightly overweight. Also I have no symptoms as well. After diagnosis at ER I started check at home and my blood sugar it’s always between 220-280. I am so worried and shocked what is happening to me. This all started after I had food poisoning. Anyone here with similar experience ? I need guidance

I am 36 years old

Update: I forgot to mention I had Covid 3-4 months ago
