Drawing a Manga Character @ Urbana Regional Library

We’ve been getting lots of requests for more art programs, and we heard you! On Aug. 30 @ 1:30 p.m., my colleague Rae will be hosting “Drawing a Manga Warrior” at the Urbana Regional Library.

Manga is a deeply personal and flexible form of artistic expression, driven by the creator’s unique vision. In this program, you’ll learn how to turn basic shapes into a dynamic figure. And all you need is pen and paper, which we’ll supply of course!

You’ll learn the step by step process from Orion Zangara (check out his work here: http://www.orionzangaraart.com/). For this program, we’ll be creating unique pieces inspired by the style of One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda.

Age is 13+

Frederick locals, with gardening season getting underway, if you are looking for something to do this week, I am hosting a program this Thursday evening at the Urbana Regional Library called Intro to Soil: A Community Workshop.

This beginner-friendly session is led by Master Gardener Greg Susla from the UMD Extension. You will learn how soil forms, how it functions, and how to better understand what is in your own yard or garden. We’ll be conducting a soil lab so bring your own sample!

It is a good fit if you enjoy gardening, want to get more out of the soil you already have, or are simply curious about how soil works.

Location: Urbana Regional Library (9020 Amelung St, Frederick, MD 21704)

Date: Thursday, April 30

Time: 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
