Update 5.5 Deck Drop is our 7th Early Access update and the 2nd additional update we have released outside our original roadmap. Update 6 is already in development, but enough content, optimisations, fixes and improvements were ready that we decided to release them now rather than hold them back.

WHAT'S NEW

• Expanded storage with new portable containers and large Battery, Petrol and Diesel storage.
• New MOSES Field Reserve Program quest at Warehouse Alpha.
• New Memories and HoloMemories added throughout the world.
• New Gyrocopter landing pads and Gyro Towers.
• Container Dispensers added across locations.
• Reduced loading stutter and further performance optimization.
• Improved vehicle cameras, forklift handling, weather variety, fog visibility, collision and UI readability.
• Major audio and visual pass across vehicles, weapons, environments, water, explosions, caves, music and effects.
• Fishing Module storage and Fishing Net information improved.
• Large round of bug fixes covering crashes, quests, rockets, cables, containers, crafting, UI, locations and progression.

Hey Caretakers

Update 5.0: New Horizons is now live for all early access players! It's a substantial update but it's not just new content, more of the game now fits together. The humans you launch into space are no longer just success on a screen... the committees awaken and their work has begun to filter back down to Earth. Project Eden begins and new life grows from it's progress. The drowned world starts to show the mission is going somewhere... The player works, the world responds.

WHAT'S NEW

• Project Eden begins: Build the first visible stage of Earth’s restoration as committee progress turns into something you can see growing in the world.
• The Committees awaken: Humans launched into orbit now push humanity’s long-term future forward through new development paths and restoration goals.
• Project Jonah: A new whale encounter, questline, lore, rewards, and a dedicated summoning location.
• Cultural Memories: Discover Cave Paintings, HoloMemories, Statue Spires, Samples, and other traces of the world that came before.
• New exploration and quest content: Enter Theta-9, a sealed research facility built to study Roth’s Anomaly, and follow new questlines.
• New tools and systems: Use TideRipper™ Hand Jets, the Rhino Dismantler, Recovery Grinder, PECO Grid Scan 2000, Data Recovery Deck music playback, Rocket Payload fabrication, and more.
• Major technical improvements: New wave and weather systems, reduced memory consumption, HDR support, controller and UI improvements, and optimization across gameplay systems, vehicles, physics, cables, weather, and large save games.
• Enhanced localization: Italian and Spanish in-game text translations added

Hey Caretakers,

It's been amazing to see players diving into our latest early access update, 04: BELOW US! The average Caretaker is spending around 41 hours trying to save humanity. Seeing players invest that much time into the world we are building means a lot to us! We also hope that players are feeling a smoother experience overall since we shipped our performance and bug fixing focused update, 3.5 SHADOW DROP. Player feedback, bug reporting and discussions have been so valuable in shaping the direction of development, please keep it coming!

The Last Caretaker won Finnish Game of the Year 2025.

From a small Finnish team and four years of work.
So much ocean, so many systems.
Cables behaving like cables.
Boats behaving like boats.
Bugs behaving like bugs and players doing things we never expected.
All whilst one robot tries to save humanity!

The game is still in Early Access and there's a lot left to do.
