After driver doored CDOT planner Riley O'Neil, 35, on bike in Bridgeport, causing his death, advocates demand City install protected lanes to prevent such killings

A driver killed a planner who worked on making cycling better in my city, Chicago.

He was killed in a neighbourhood where NIMBYs have been protesting the construction of a small segment of protected bike lane on Archer avenue.

As with many issues in our city, aldermen have power to oppose projects like these and as a result, we have a fragmented protected bike lane system. Why would someone who is risk averse want to bike when you could be exposed to high speed traffic with the only thing protecting you being some fucking paint?

Something has to change in this city and these aldermen need to be put in their place.
