My grandpa used to make willow baskets, it's my time now

Like most people in my hometown long ago, my grandpa used to make a lot of baskets. He crafted the basket on the first picture in front of me when I was 10 yo (I'm 30 now). The other baskets were made before I was born, and even though they are in bad conditions, we are still using them on a regular basis for garden work. These things are incredibly solid.

The trees he was pruning are now either dead or fully grown and home to the chiffchaff. So I spent a lot of time collecting cuttings here and there this winter to plant them on a piece of wet land that my grandma owns. I plan on planting about 30 trees, which will allow me to grow massive amounts of rods for me and others who don't have the chance of inheriting a piece of wet land to grow their own willows. See you back in two years!

Found a free axe head deep in the forest soil, I guess she's been through a fire 🙃

This is it after splitting two chunks of soft wood

I rode 1200 km (745 miles) across France with this setup in 9 days in 2019

Motivated by a hypomanic episode, I bought this bike for 90 euros a week before and went from my hometown near the border with Germany to the Atlantic ocean in 9 days. Lost 7 kg (15 pounds) on the way. Fantastic experience. Here is a picture of my bike in front of the city of Blois. I still don't know how I managed to do that much distance in such a short amount of time with this setup, not much training, and health issues like ibs that was draining my energy.

With the modern gravel bike that I have now, my waaayyy better mental and physical health and more common sense, I'm starting to plan the next trip.

Memories from my teenage viking phase

When I was 15 I found this heavy, very old and rusted axe deep in the soil of the forest. Being in my viking phase, I took my dad's angle grinder, and shaped it into a bearded axe. 15 years later and it is still my favorite workhorse

This oak is located in the town of Herméville-en-Woëvre in France was used as an observation post during WW1 to observe the accuracy of canon fire. The ladder rungs are still visible, although they are beginning to disappear under the bark. The kind of things that remind you how close in history this is. Once a battlefield, this place is now a lush forest full of life.
