Advice on visas

Hi there!
I’m trying to move to Spain permanently from the US. My work has been in education (7 years in educational leadership and 12 years of experience in education) but with many schools hiring only those with the right to work in the EU or hiring people on student visas, I’ve had no luck finding a job so I can get a work visa.

I don’t want to move and have to eventually come back to the US. So I wondered if I can get advice to my current pivot idea.

I was thinking of going back to University and getting a second masters while in Spain. Then I can go on a student resident permit and even work part time.

Things I’m wondering
- How easy would it be to find housing because I hear housing logistics are difficult (I’m fine sharing a room)
- Since I just thought of this, is it too late to hear back from a university in time to start this upcoming fall? If so, can I start second semester instead of waiting another year?
- Most important, since my goal is permanent residency, once I am there, how can I ensure the time counts towards my visa?
- If I get a remote job, could I switch this visa to a digital nomad visa? Or what are the chances I can get a working visa and a job offer from a Spanish company once I’m there?

Important background info: I was born in Dominican Republic so I only need two years of legally living in Spain to apply to become a Spanish citizen. I know each year on the student visa counts as half but I’m willing to make sacrifices, like study for multiple years to make it count.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Non lucrative visa Spain

Hello,

I’m hoping to move to Spain from the US with the non-lucrative visa. I have around $55,000 saved up, but I don’t have passive income. I do have additional money in my Roth IRA that can be taken out tax-free I’m hoping they would consider as part of my funds available.

I’m in the process of getting all my documents in order and wondering if I’m wasting my time applying since I don’t have passive income.

Additional information:
I was born in Dominican Republic, so I only need two years of legal residency in Spain before I can apply to live there as a resident. My hope is to go there on this visa and eventually have Spanish citizenship. Therefore, I’m not considering any other countries and I don’t have to worry about living off my savings for more than three years max.
