Why don’t i like my bike

I have a cross check love it, perfect bike.
I have a Wilde rambler i find it slow, boring not responsive. Just kinda bleh. Both bikes have a 700x43 tire.

What am i doing wrong, is it a chainstay thing, a bb height thing. Should i be getting 650b wheels. I don’t want to have to sell it i’ve put way too much money and work into it.

Edit: god this got a ton of traction. So lets go through the common recommendations:

Bike fit: as i said somewhere last bike fitter charged me $150 at professional shop my hands hurt, he insulted my rubber brooks and then ghosted me when i needed a re adjust. Sooo I don’t exactly have trust.

Saddle: i moved the saddle forward and more upright, this has immediately changed how fun this bike is. Way more responsive, way more power transfer.

Go bikepacking: man i needed to hear this leaving tomorrow.

650b wheels: this might be in the cards when i sell a bike (which i need to do).

Why have both: my crosscheck is a single speed basket commuter with semi slick tires and swept back bars. No branding and a spray.bike paint job. They serve different purposes.

Bought this used, looks like a previous owner had to cut out a seized seatpost. Do i go pay a welder or frame builder to patch this or do i just go for it and hope for the best.
