Is it just me or was Charles kind of a bum

Listen, I know times were tough in the pioneer days. But even moving more than once would’ve been atypical - this man uprooted his family six times. Often this was due to him running away from debt and creditors, poor financial investments, or his own impulsivity that disrupted their home just as they were able to put down roots somewhere.

As a kid I loved the books, I read them all multiple times and related to Laura. Now as a 30-something woman I’m looking at Caroline like, “girl, this seems exhausting.”
