if you had to pick a city to spend the weekend in… dallas or charlotte

so, i’m trying to plan a little quick weekend getaway in august. the goal is to work on friday and leave that afternoon at 1 and catch a flight at 3/4.

i’m heavily debating between dallas and charlotte. these are cities that i haven’t been to before and i’m also considering these as they have more than one non stop a day from my smaller airport in virginia.

a huge pro about clt is i can basically drive there and not worry about having to rent a car. however, im having issues creating an itinerary. the only thing that interests me (that i’ve seen) is carowinds

with dallas, it’s much easier for me to create an itinerary. i would like to try some texas bbq, in-n-out, and a few hours at six flags. i would need to rent a car and i would have to fly. the only thing that’s making me hesitant, is it may feel like a bit much to do on a weekend. i plan to go to work at my regular time (which is 9) on that following monday

flight cost are not an issue as i have flight credits that would cover dallas and clt (if i decide to fly to clt)

if it matters, im 23 and i enjoy sightseeing and eating.

even if its a better city that you guys may recommend, im more than open to look into it. thanks in advance!

stick with the wish? or switch to utopia of the seas

in november, i’ll be going on my 2nd ever cruise. i’ll be going with my boyfriend.

i was originally booked to go on the carnival sunrise but i found out it was the “poop cruise” so i cancelled it and i’ll be going with my boyfriend so i wanted something more nicer.

it’s been a dream of mine to sail on a disney cruise ever since i was a little. i do really love disney but i wouldn’t describe myself as a “disney adult.” i’ve decided to book on the wish! the price was reasonable so that was a deciding factor. i’m not really into partying nor is my boyfriend.

however, i do like late night comedy shows but i didn’t see that they offer that on any disney cruise.

i saw a promo for utopia of the seas. the price is half of disney which is great! however, it is royals party ship which is making me hesitant and feels like it may be too big for me.

i sailed on one of carnivals smallest ship which is the paradise so the wish or utopia would be a massive upgrade. utopia seems like it would be a bit too much in size.

we’re primarily looking to relax on the ship and enjoy the ports. not really looking for constant get up and go.

both are 4 nights sailing out of port canaveral. i am leaning towards sticking with disney. if it matters im also in my early 20’s

thanks in advance for any guidance!!

did i make a mistake booking mardi gras for a first time cruiser?

this will be my 2nd time sailing on carnival and cruising in general. my first ever cruise was on the paradise and i had a lot of fun! i wasn’t expecting myself to enjoy the paradise as much as i did.

i did say to myself on my next cruise, i wanted to sail at least 5 to 7 days and also on a bigger ship.

this upcoming cruise i will be going with my boyfriend. i originally booked us on the sunrise but after all the mixed reviews, i decided to call carnival and switch to the mardi gras.

it seemed like it was the only other cruise that was departing on halloween. (i had to reschedule during this time as we already took pto)

now i’m worried it feels like i made a mistake. on paradise, i loved how i didn’t have to wait a long time at dinner or getting food on the lido deck. i enjoyed navigating around paradise as it didn’t feel overwhelming with a bunch of people despite it being a small ship.

even with the mardi gras, i had to downgrade to an interior room. (was booked on sunrise with an ocean view) but it was all sold out on the mardi gras.

my boyfriend has never been on a cruise before and i don’t want him to get a negative view on carnival or cruising in general by feeling overwhelmed.

should i go back to the sunrise or stick with mardi gras?
