MTools for Flipper Zero is coming - what magic cards should we try next?

Hi everyone! I'm the one behind MTools Tec AKA MTCK. We’ve made an open-source Flipper Zero app that uses its built-in NFC hardware to give you more ways to explore magic cards—no extra hardware needed.
Here’s what’s in the app so far:
- Magic Check
Magic card detection checks MIFARE Classic Gen1 (UID), Gen2 (CUID), Gen3 (APDU), Gen4 (UMC), GDM (USCUID), and ISO 15693 Gen1 and Gen3. If it can’t reliably identify a generation, it shows Unconfirmed.
- UID Changer
lets you read a UID or enter one manually, write it to a compatible magic card, and verify the result. It supports ISO 15693 Gen2 writes too, although Magic Check can’t reliably identify Gen2.
We’d love to learn which cards you’re using, what works for you, and what you’d like to see next. Feel free to share your results or ideas in the comments!

Will be submitted to Flipper App Catalog soon.

UHF Expansion v1.3: decode tag chips, generate EPC sequences, and save cleaner scan logs

Hey everyone — I’ve been working on the UHF Expansion app again, and v1.3 has now been merged into the official Flipper Apps Catalog.

Since my previous v1.1 post, the main goal has been to make the app more useful for actual RFID identification, inventory, and authorized tag-testing workflows—not just add more screens.

What’s new:

• A redesigned six-tool menu with separate Radar and Tag Inventory modes

• A TID Decoder that reads a single tag and shows its manufacturer ID, detected chip model, and raw TID

• EPC sequence generation for testing compatible writable tags, with write verification before advancing to the next value

• Persistent settings for sound, RF output power (0–20 dBm), and which tool opens at startup

• Radar now starts scanning automatically when opened

• Cleaner byte-grouped EPC and TID displays, which makes long values easier to inspect on the Flipper screen

• Direct CSV filename entry, with date-based filenames that avoid overwriting earlier scan records

The TID Decoder has probably been the most useful addition for me: instead of only seeing an EPC, I can place one tag near the reader and quickly inspect its chip information and raw identifier.

For anyone who wants to try it, v1.3 can be installed through the official Flipper Apps Catalog:

https://lab.flipper.net/apps/uhf\_expansion

The project is open source here:

https://github.com/mtoolstec/fz-uhf-expansion

I’d especially appreciate feedback on TID decoding with different EPC Gen2 chips. If a tag is detected incorrectly, please share the raw TID and the expected chip model so I can improve the decoder.

As always, memory writing and EPC sequence tools should only be used with tags and systems you own or are authorized to test.

Disclosure: I’m the developer of the app and also the designer/seller of the UHF Expansion hardware shown in the photos.

UHF Expansion app v1.1 is now available — read and write EPC, TID, and User Data

Hey everyone — I’m the developer behind the UHF Expansion hardware and app for Flipper Zero.

Version 1.1 has now been merged into the official Flipper Apps Catalog. This update adds tag memory operations for compatible UHF RFID tags:

  • Read EPC, TID, and User Data
  • Edit memory values directly on the Flipper Zero
  • Write EPC, TID, and User Data to compatible writable tags
  • Automatic read-back verification after writing
  • Inventory scanning, tag selection, radar view, and live reader information

The workflow is:

  1. Start inventory in the UHF Expansion app
  2. Switch to the tag list
  3. Select a tag with Up/Down and press OK
  4. Use Left to cycle through EPC, TID, and User Data
  5. Press OK to edit the current value
  6. Place one compatible writable destination tag near the reader
  7. Press Right to write and verify

A quick technical note: the TID on most standard UHF tags is factory-programmed and read-only. TID writing requires a purpose-built TID-changeable tag. EPC and User Memory can also be locked or unavailable depending on the chip.

The app is open source:

https://github.com/mtoolstec/fz-uhf-expansion

Official Flipper Apps page:

https://lab.flipper.net/apps/uhf_expansion

I’d really appreciate feedback from anyone testing it, especially with different EPC Gen2 tags or third-party firmware builds. If you run into compatibility issues, please share the tag type, firmware, and error message.

Disclosure: I’m also the designer and seller of the UHF Expansion hardware shown in these photos.

UHF Expansion Firmware for ADV available on Burner

We’ve made the advanced firmware on Cardputer ADV and it can be super easy to read and write UHF Tag by just several clicks. No need open the complex Windows Program 🥳🥳

Firmware can be flash on M5Stack new web burner: UHF Expansion for Cardputer ADV

UHF Expansion is available on MTools Tec store and offer free PLA 3D case in Aug 2026.

UHF RFID inventory on the Cardputer-Adv — radar mode in action!

I’ve been working on a UHF RFID inventory app for the Cardputer-Adv, and this is a quick test of the current build.
The UHF module communicates over UART using GPIO 15 and GPIO 13. The app currently supports:
Live EPC tag list and unique tag count
Animated radar-style counter view
Real-time reads-per-second display
Speaker feedback when tags are detected
Spacebar to start or pause inventory
Tab to switch views
Backspace/Delete to clear the results
Saving inventory records to LittleFS or an SD card
Automatic UHF reader firmware detection at startup
I’m still tuning the inventory speed and UI, but it’s already working nicely for quick RFID scans.
Let me know what features you’d like to see next!

Here comes UHF Expansion for FlipperZero

Finally the antenna of UHF Tags arrived. Got the SWR 1.2 at 915MHz.
And working distance can reach 20cm.
Also it works as UHF antenna via USB. Full program available on Windows or OTG with MTools App.

UHF Expansion for Flipper Zero — Scan, Browse, and Save UHF Tags

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on a UHF RFID reader/writer expansion for the Flipper Zero, and I wanted to share what it can do so far.

What it does:

📡 Fast inventory scan — Real-time UHF tag scanning over UART bridge

📋 Paged EPC list — Browse scanned tags with paginated UI

📄 Tag details — View full EPC, RSSI, and PC bits for each tag

💾 Save CSV records — Export scanned tags to your SD card

Hardware setup:

Works with UCM601 module (UART bridge mode)

Pins: 13(TX)→RX, 14(RX)→TX, 8(3.3V)→VCC, 18(GND)→GND

115200 baud, supports both hardware UART and software UART fallback

It's fully open-source under MIT license. Source available on GitHub:

Cardputer Zero + NFC Unit = Tag Emulator

Working on the RFID App on CardPuter Zero and now it supports the NFC Unit via IIC with tag emulation.
From the video you can see PN532 reads the NFC Unit and open the website of m5stack.

CardPuter Zero will be available on Kickstarter in less than 48hours. Good luck to everyone backers.😁
