One Way Prohibited Charge?

UPDATED: I was able to get ahold of Sixt and they immediately initiated a refund, although with several charges and refunds now, I have to wait until it all settles in the card to determine if I’ve been charged any extra. Overall I’m still very happy with the majority of all my rentals with Sixt, it’s just frustrating when it’s this simple.

I’ve been renting from Sixt for 10 years, starting in Europe, and never had a single issue. Turn the car in today, get the “no damage, car in same condition it was rented in”, figure I’m in the clear. So, prepaid rental, on Maui, and I get a $1,000 “one-way prohibited charge” plus associated taxes and fees. I’m not sure how you can do a one-way rental on the island. And of course there’s the lack of branch numbers, access, or anything to deal with this directly. Make it make sense.
