So im watching clannad after story for the first time and i have to rant

Hello and welcome to another drunken crackhead rant by whatever my username is I forget.

Spoilers for first 4 episodes of after story

I just finished episode 4 (sunohara arc's last episode) and I think my hate for these characters has peaked and idk if I can watch the rest of this. I don't think ive ever hated a character, particularly an MC, has much ss I hate Tomoya. Like in this arc alone he has done nothing but despicable shit, starting with his #1 go to action: gaslight everyone around him. Imagine hooking your friend up with a married woman without telling him that while literally everyone else is aware (and the only reason your friend isnt is due to a previous instance of gaslighting), letting him fall in love, then embarass the fuck out of himself. Imagine faking like you're dating your friends sister for no reason but to piss him off. Imagine watching your friends sister spend *all* her time with you and your girlfriend without saying 10 words to her brother that arent condescending criticism, and then acting like the brother is the bad guy when the relationship starts to sour. Imagine trying to get your friend to rejoin a team full of comically evil bullies so that he can "become a better person" like what the fuck is going on in this arc? In this show?

Despite the serious competition, Tomoya might be the worst friend in anime. When tomoya has a problem sunohara is always there with serious advice and support like with the Nagisa situation; when sunohara has a problem tomoya is always there with pointless lies and gaslighting to make the situation worse. Aside from keeping up the lie to sunohara that his fake gf is Tomoya's girlfriends married mother he also decides "let me put extra strain on the already strained relationship between my best friend and his sister by pretending to be her big brother and then when we run into him, pretending to date her(or maybe it was supposed to imply a replacement sibling relationship, im honestly not sure)" and say she "spent the night at my house".

Then theres mei, who despite supposedly coming to the city to spend time with/check up on Sunohara spends every minute possible with tomoya and nagisa TWICE and then has the audacity to act like her big brother isnt there for her. She spends an entire day pretending Toyoma is her big brother, specifically says to Toyoma "I wish you were my big brother", takes an extra close and cozy photo with Toyoma-pseudo-onee-san then when they run into Sunohara and are confronted goes along with Tomoya's lie (again, my first thought was dating but maybe it was sibling replacement otherwise the spent the night line is crazy pedo shit and weird af) regarding their relationship then acts surprised that Sunohara is sulking/mad and distances himself from the both of them for a short time. THEN she decides the solution to all this is to force a situation where her brother has to fight and/or join a whole team of bullies who previously whooped his ass because it will make him a good person somehow.

And despite every single piece of drama being the fault of mostly Tomoya but assisted by his naive accomplice Mei the arc wraps up in a way that makes it clear the whole series of events was actually Sunohara's fault for falling for a girl and then sulking over his sister abandoning him for his best friend and his best friend happily and smugly embracing this and rubbing it in his face...

TLDR: tomoya is a bad friend, a pathological liar, and a cunt; Mei is spoiled unreasonable cunt, and Sunohara did nothing wrong.

What are peoples most hated tropes in anime?

We all know anime is full of common tropes and I think everyone has at least one or two they are annoyed by. For me personally the top 3 are

  1. Characters who could resolve a misunderstanding or conflict in one sentence but instead just say a name over and over with accompanying "um" and "let me explain" rather than just saying the thing

  2. Characrers walking around with eyes closed/talking to themselves out loud sometimes both at the same time leading to some other character hearing what they said and leading to drama or in the case of closed eyes walking in on girls for a gag or occasionally it leads to something plot relevant happening

3.when someone runs away after/during a conversation and instead of chasing after them a character stands there saying "wait!" with an arm out for like a minute before chasing after them and then can't find the person that ran off

Now that the season is over/almost over what are everyone's favorite/must watch?

Seems like every season there's an overhyped show, a great show that flies under the radar, and one that turns out to be just awful. I've only been watching a couple of this seasons anime and wanted to get opinions on which are great, which are good, and which shouldn't have ever been made. Obviously opinions vary but I'd like to see how everyone's feeling
