Tightrope surgery in July- can I hike in November?

Hello!
I had a tightrope surgery July 14th, just started partial weight bearing in my boot with crutches. Injury was June 13, I’ve been NWB since then.

Looking ahead, planning to book travel for November, and ideally I’d like to do a bit of light hiking (3-4 miles)

At 4 months after surgery (no fractures, no displacement, tightrope) — has anyone returned to longer walks/ hikes?? Is this feasible?? Or am I being unrealistic

Recent Injury- Surgery or No?

I fell and sustained a lisfranc 10 days ago. NWB since.

Day 2: WB xray show a subtle diastasis between mets 1 &2 (2 mm)

Day 6: MRI confirmed partial tear (gr 2) and microfractures of mets 1/2/3 and cuneiforms.

Day 9: follow up WB xray with same findings as day 2.

Doc recommended conservative treatment, redoing WB xrays every 3 weeks.

"if joint becomes unstable we can fuse down the line".

I DON'T want a fusion. I'm 35, active, ski, yoga, love being barefoot. Discussed doing an ORIF (screws and plates or a tightrope) but doc wants to try conservative. My issue- if conservative fails, might be too scarred over for an ORIF and might be destined for a fusion.

  1. has anyone had success with conservative management and returning to their active lifestyle?

  2. should I push for the ORIF now, to realign the joint and be done with in?

  3. is my active life over if I have to get a fusion?

Help!

I've reached out to many of my ortho friends, and its split 50/50 whether I should advocate for ORIF surgery now or wait and see what happens without surgery.
