My Idaho redesign uses the unofficial Idaho state colours. The red star gem represents the star garnet. The two chevrons denote progress, and also reflect the mountains and Snake River.
My design for Washington uses an adapted banner of arms for George Washington.
I change the red to green to represent the natural environment of the Pacific North West.
Then I rotated the arms to face west.
Montana's Big Sky is represented by the blue field. The mountains are represented by the snow and gold, also forming the letter M. In the pride of place is the Bitterroot, the state flower.
