How can you monetize speaking 6 languages? (Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish, Portuguese, German, English)

Hi everyone, curious question for the polyglots here. I work in tech and studied computer science, but I also speak six languages: Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish, Portuguese, German, and English.

I’d love to find a way to turn these language skills into actual income, ideally something on the side or a career path of its own. I know embassy jobs are often an option for multilingual people, but most of them require a degree in political science or international relations, which I don’t have. On top of that, a lot of translation work seems to have been taken over by AI these days, so I’m not sure how viable that path still is.

What are some realistic ways to make money with this kind of language combination? Interpretation, teaching, remote work, freelancing, anything that isn’t just plain translation… I’m open to ideas. Would love to hear from people who’ve done something similar.

Solo Amazon rainforest trip (up to 15 days) advice, safety, and price info?

Hey everyone, I’ve always dreamed of exploring the Amazon rainforest, and I’m planning to use my annual vacation (up to 20 days) to finally do it. The catch is I’d be going alone, and from what I’ve read, joining an organized group tour still raises some safety concerns if you don’t already know people in the group.

Has anyone here done a solo trip to the Amazon through a tour agency? I’d love an honest, objective take on what to expect: how safe it really is, how tours typically handle solo travelers, and any tips for getting the most out of it. If you can share rough prices too, that would be a huge help.

Slave u rêz everyone, curious question for the polyglots here. I work in tech and studied computer science, but I also speak six languages: Kurdish (my native language, I’m from Rojava, Afrin), Arabic, Turkish, Portuguese, German, and English.

Your signature is Pastor Nihad’s voice - A Kurdish pastor in Syria was arrested over a social media post

Wanted to share something happening right now in Syria. Pastor Nihad Hassan — a Kurdish pastor who leads the Kurdish Evangelical Church in Beirut — was arrested by Syrian authorities and is currently being held in Afrin Central Civil Prison. His case has been referred to the judiciary in Aleppo. The reason? Peaceful social media posts expressing his opinion.

He’s originally from the village of Kurdan in the Afrin region — a predominantly Kurdish area of Syria — and converted to Christianity in 2008. Since then he’s spent his life doing humanitarian and spiritual work across Lebanon, Syria, and several other countries.

There’s a petition calling for his immediate and unconditional release, and for a fair, transparent trial if legal proceedings continue. This isn’t just a religious story — it’s a Kurdish minority + religious minority + freedom of expression case all at once, which is exactly the kind of intersection that tends to get ignored. It matters regardless of your own faith or background.

Signing takes less than a minute, but it helps put pressure on the people who can actually act.

Freedom of belief in Rojava

The Syrian authorities have arrested Pastor Nihad Hassan, pastor of the Kurdish Evangelical Church in Beirut, in connection with certain social media posts attributed to him. He is currently being detained at the Afrin Central Civil Prison, and his case has been referred to the judicial authorities in Aleppo, according to confirmation from his attorney.
It is worth noting that Pastor Nihad Hassan is originally from the Afrin region of Syria, specifically from the village of Kordan in the Jindires district. He embraced the Christian faith (Evangelical Church) in 2008 and has since played a significant role in providing spiritual care and humanitarian assistance to those in need in Lebanon, Syria, and many other countries—a ministry he continues to carry out.

There is absolutely no truth to the reports circulated by certain social media pages claiming that his wife has also been detained.

While we call upon the authorities to immediately release Pastor Nihad Hassan, we also urge all social media pages to exercise accuracy and caution before publishing any information concerning him. We consider this page to be the primary and official source of information for everyone seeking updates regarding Pastor Nihad.

As a church, we ask all brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as all churches, to unite with us in prayer.

"So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him."
Acts 12:5
