Noise from S9 body
I recently had my S9 warranty serviced, and the motherboard was replaced after it suddenly stopped recognizing any attached lens. The issue seems to have been resolved, but when I took it home and started restoring all the settings I had made over a year (which was quite a daunting task, and Lumix Sync settings backup didn’t help at all!), I noticed that the camera emits some new type of noise.
I detached the lens and disabled the stab, but the noise persisted. It was constant and sounded like a small motor continuously working inside the body. It is not high-pitched electronics or low rumble movements of the stab. Instead, it's in the mid-frequency range. It can be picked up the best when I put the body directly to my ear, but it can also be easily picked up in a silent room. It only disappears when the camera goes into power-saving mode or I turn it off manually.
I returned to the service company, and they acknowledged the noise. However, the next day, they called me to inform me that they had another S9 that was not serviced but emitted the same type of sound. They even showed it to me, and I confirmed that it sounded the same when I put it to my ear. So, they returned the body after tests that didn’t reveal any issues.
Now, I’m confused. I can swear that I’ve never heard this noise before in more than a year of owning the camera. And I did use it in a silent environment, exactly as when I noticed the noise after the repair. It also seems to me that the body is heating up a bit more, and the battery is discharging faster. However, I haven’t played with it long enough to say for certain yet.
Can anyone with a new or just properly functioning S9 please check if it makes this sound? Anybody can explain what makes it? Please let me know if I’m not being crazy. Should I insist it's not a normal operation?
PS: some pictures attached made by this S9 before it decided to question my sanity.
