Up for sale is a VSF 124060 I modded from a new 5X April batch…
*Mods:*
- Case re-satined
- Rehaut refinished using my non-chemical/product based approach
- Marker and hands are cleaned
- Xtal is cleaned
- Bracelet chamfered and re-satined
- Gasket are greased
- Ultrasonic Cleaned
*All these are now staples to every watch I mod.*
Now how did I polish the rehaut without messing up the infamous VSF 12 series bezel assembly? Answer: I did experience the very well documented one-time use hytrel gasket issue of the 12 series sub. Last week ko pa nga dapat ito natapos if not bec I learned the issue myself.
*Story:*
So when you decide to tear down a VSF 12 series sub (probably because you wanted to align the insert, or do a rehaut polish), unlike the 11 series, it is almost certain that you will have the hytrel gasket mangled, or have it stretched out of shape (the hytrel gasket is a circular teflon material that serves the purpose of a “clip” to hold the bezel assembly to the midcase, also as the cushion/track of the bezel when turning it). When that happens, if you install the bezel assembly where the ceramic insert is still in place, you’ll find out that either 1) you can’t put the bezel back, or when you do, 2) the ceramic insert will not be flush anymore to the bezel because the hytrel ring pushed the non-friction fit metal spacer that VSF uses, making the insert pop upwards the assembly. In other words, lalabas yung insert sa pagkakalapag ng tama, o hindi mo maibabalik yung buong bezel at all…
So how did I install it? It needs a bit of tinkering and understanding how VSF wants the bezel assembly to be installed. How I did it is I removed the bezel insert using a proper set of die, then I placed bezel assembly without the hytrel gasket, *then after I tucked the hytrel skillfully to the channel (yung kanal niya) of both the retaining ring and bezel assembly where VSF intended its hytrel to sit.* Once it is installed, you’ll know you have done it right 1) if you can turn the bezel (albeit a little stiffer now this time, because the hytrel is already stretched, but upside is it will now have zero bezel-play), and 2) the metal spacer of the ceramic insert will now sit evenly on the bezel assembly, in effect the ceramic insert will also sit flush again to the assembly when you put it back. Sa tagalog, 1) alisin mo yung ceramic insert muna ng tama para di mo mabasag, 2) tapos ilagay mo yung bezel assembly ng walang hytrel, at 3) finally kumuha ka ng peg wood tapos i tuck-in mo yung hyrel sa pagitan ng bezel assembly at retaining ring (may tamang lapag siya, may clipping sound every time you tuck a part of the hytrel).
So ang suggestion ko dito, kung magmmod ka ng VSF 12 series or may i-ccorrect ka sa bezel, ask yourself these following questions:
If you have no for an answer in any of it, don’t DIY it. Send it to a “professional”. Alternatively, kung may magkaka-issue nito saatin na modders, I’ll be down to help as a guide. Maipapaliwanag ko ng tagalog, yun ang importante.
So for the interested buyer, the price is *37,888 php* 🧧 and I am responsible enough that I bought a new sealed hytrel ring. So in the event na masira, ang wisdom ko ay efas kasi merong pamalit na bago.

Between the two, ang glaring differences lang na nakita ko is the subdial thickness, crown guard shape, and dial tone (in order). The rest (case, bezel, pushers, finish) marginal differences nalang imo.
Which is closer to gen? Inconclusive pa para sakin. But what do I know? Lol. I’ve been staring at gen pictures at ang tanging narealize ko lang so far is just enjoy the reps. 🤣

I did my full outer case and bracelet repolish method here. Rehaut was refinished, and I applied chamfers on the bracelet of course.
Also, I placed extra effort on cleaning various parts as I find it to make a good difference in modding. That’s my perceived reason why the engravings, markers, and hands pop a bit more than stock… pati narin why the bracelet feel less squeaky kahit di ako naglalagay ng grasa or oil sa links.
In my estimate, I was able to bring it to 98% condition.

Very timely, I’m complimenting the previous appreciation post about my OP36 Green Dial work with another awesome green dial sub… called as “The Hulk” by collectors. So here’s the story:
This was first put together by a sub member perhaps yeaaars back, and I was told that it is fitted with the following rep and gen part/s:
- ZF Hulk Dial (it was all the craze about 2 years ago… note that the dial was glued to the movement)
- DD3135
- Clean Handset
- Gen Datewheel
- VSF Xtal
- VSF K25 case
- Clean bezel assembly and ceramic insert
- Old ARF bracelet
The person (another sub member) who was able to purchase it then sent it to Timemedics for a movement overhaul and a bracelet welding job because sadly the old ARF bracelet clasp broke... overhauling was successful but they weren’t able to fix the broken clasp. The new owner then thought it was a good idea to have me source a new bracelet (I was only able to get a Clean bracelet) and do my polishing — I obliged. So here’s what I did then:
- Rehaut refinishing (shine intensity was customer preference)
- Case repolish including caseback
- Rebrushed and applied chamfers on the new clean bracelet
- Several rounds of ultradupersupersonic clean hehe im a neat freak, i wanted the rehaut engravings to pop too!
- Greasing of gaskets
What you’re seeing now is a testament that reps when taken care of can really last a considerable amount of time... (baka nga more than 2 years old na ito eh) I was also very happy to work on this because it’s actually my first time to see a ZF Hulk dial in person, not to mention I am not very good at distinguishing gen datewheels yet. Maganda na kasi ang VSF honestly. So may natutunan din ako. 😁

I’m so happy to share the result of my discussions and experiments with another member-craftsman here. I’ve always had a 8/10 streak with Poly, ang lakas kasi niya kumain ng bakal, it’s not so forgiving… but now we have a new very promising method. The new method kept the factory haspi while introducing a *even* fine shine. Did we do it?

I’ve always wanted a good tropical dial 6542. Mostly dahil tropical country tayo and it kinda fits the situation. 🤣
Hindi ko pa ito na-ishare dito, I realized... So here’s for ya’ll appreciation. Build specs:
- Custom 6542 true gilt dial. Made by Phoenix (so called Milk cases producer). One-off itong dial, dalawa ang reject before this one I settled dahil ang process ay isawsaw niya yung gilt dial sa chemicals (potassium permanganate/sulfate, yung mga pang-patina ng copper na nabibili sa hardwares), plus heat, so hindi lahat ng outcome maganda. You get what science gives! That’s the reason why yung dial may mga textures na hindi typical sa mga viet counterparts, di rin nakukuha yan ng tamiya aging make-ups lol. Siya pala din nag lume ng mga markers na black with my direction. Nakakamesmerize yung nangingitim na for me!
- Roulette open 6 and 9 serif datewheel overlay. Ito ang pinakamatagal ko nahanap. Sa old reps ko pa nakuha (SNF).
- Phoenix handset with custom all red small triangle gmt hand (Unicorn, debatable if it exists really or fantasy as discussed in gen forums, though idc I like it all red, rep naman ito). Mas ok din sakin ang handset ni Phoenix kasi yung hub ng gmt hand malapad. Mapapasin din na parang gumapang yung black patina sa hands while retaining some pumpkin colored lume, decision ko yun para matchy-matchy yes.
- Ruby viet 6542 case set. Ako na nag age nito kasama ng bezel. Yung nag yellow na gmt markers believe it or not is a combination of water-based paint and a drop of Betadine to tint! 🤣
- 7206-58 viet riveted bracelet from Kuared. Viet vendor. Just the same, ako na din nagalis ng talas at slight age ng bracelet. Minod ko din yung end link para mag accept ng fat springbars.
- 2836 gmt module from Lazada lol

Honestly, I only wear it on occasions na I wouldn’t mingle with my gen circles. The real watch is a grail for most serious and respectable collectors… and at my life’s trajectory mukhang I definitely won’t be able to buy the gen 😂 assuming na magkapera pa ako o hindi jahaha so ito lang yung realistic (dare I say, responsible) way to somehow “live the dream”. Kaya Tropical Dreams ang title! Personal na laruang pampakilig lang naman. 💙
