Getting Frustrated w/ Stubborn Reads…

I had our fourth baby eleven weeks ago, and ever since then, my reads have been a disaster. I was in OB Triage around a week postpartum but they gave me nifedipine which worked great in that moment and it brought me down to a good level and I wasn’t admitted. Continued on my normal med plus the one they gave me and I’ve still been sitting pretty high — 140/110s usually. A couple weeks ago my in-laws were in town visiting and one of the nights they were here, my blood pressure shot up to 190/127. I earned myself a trip to the ER. They gave me amlodipine on top of what I was already taking (nifedipine + labetolol) and sent me home. Saw my primary the next day to change meds to see if something else works. Now on amlodipine (5mg) and hydralazine (75mg a day) and I’m still reading high — just did 159/101.

I’m starting to get really annoyed. I’ve been watching my salt, sugar, and caffeine since the ER trip and I’ve tightened up even more for this upcoming week since I placed my grocery order today. Anyone else had this happen? How did you fix it? Before trying to get pregnant I was on losartan and amlodapine which worked great but I guess hydralazine has been shown to be safer for nursing infants. I’d really love to get off meds or as low of a dose as possible and I’m getting so discouraged. 😒

Steps for Buying Off Marketplace?

Someone near me has some lenses I’m interested in posted on Marketplace. I’m terrified of dropping that amount of cash and having something go wrong because I wasn’t thorough enough. If you’re buying used, what are the steps you take to do your due diligence?

To piggy back off that, there’s also a listing from someone else stating that he has five new in box lenses for sale. How does that happen? They’re $2,500 lenses. Is it possible to create knockoff lenses? He’s selling them for $550 off retail. Again, that’s a lot of money to spend and come out with nothing because I messed up somewhere along the lines. I’ve rented the lens in question a couple times and am finally ready to make the purchase.

Thanks!

Experiencing a Quick Drop Off After Meds?

Does anyone else experience a FAST drop once their meds kick in to the point where it causes issues for you? Is there a way to combat that or are the meds I’m currently on not right for me? I’ve been on multiple meds since diagnosis in 2022 but am currently on 500mg Labetolol x2 Daily + 30mg Nifedipine XR 1x Daily due to a very recent pregnancy. My hormones are still readjusting after having my baby but I currently sit around 150s/100s but after a med dose, I drop to something like 110s/80s. I can feel the drop happen and sometimes end up needing some balance assistance, sometimes have vision changes, etc. I’m 35 and a SAHM to multiple kids including my newborn, so it can be scary when it happens and I’m alone.

For reference, I was on 100mg of Losartan and 5mg of Amlodipine before we switched my meds so we could start trying to get pregnant and never experienced this while on those meds. I also experienced this feeling when I was pregnant due to needing a lower dose but 400mg doesn’t lower my numbers enough.
