New sound from engine today (yes naturally it’s the N20)
Was going to the store and when I turned on the engine it sounded a bit different. A distinct sound. And when the engine had warmed up a bit (rpms dropped under 1k) the sound was there almost the second I touched the gas pedal.
Did some research and could this be rod knock? At complete idle it sounds normal and no extra vibrations. No power loss either (though I was driving with a light foot bcs I was scared). Didn’t consider timing chain because I’ve read that sounds like a supercharger almost but still could be.
I contacted BMW dealership and set up an inspection for tomorrow. My question is only what do you guys think it is?
