Respect Superman and the Colors of Kryptonite (Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum)

The Last Son of Krypton was monitoring the globe in his Fortress of Solitude when he detected a meteoroid containing several unique xenominerals . These minerals were in fact rare chunks of kryptonite, radioactive pieces of the destroyed planet Krypton, each with unique colors and effects on Superman's alien biology. Perhaps too eager to learn more about his homeworld, Clark immediately called his friend Batman to the Fortress for help in self-administering these new colors of kryptonite and researching each new effect. At the same time, his old rival Lex Luthor launched a new offensive against the Man of Steel in Metropolis, releasing monsters and madmen into the city to destroy, embarrass or discredit Superman, whichever comes first. Now, Superman has to fulfill his role as Earth's defender while contending with the mind-bending effects of the new colors of kryptonite.

Respect Omega-Bam-Man (DC Comics, Post-Flashpoint)

> It’s time… time to SHINE!

The boy who would be Omega-Bam-Man was born on planet Galaxia, a farming world where the males of the species were kept docile for fear of awakening a violent, aggressive gene. He never strayed from his non-physical duties until catching a broadcast of Wrestling Across the Multiverse. Inspired by the skill, brutality and entertainment value of the reigning champ Bromega, Bam-Man rigorously trained in secret, hoping to earn the physique of a W.A.M. wrestler. When his training was discovered and he was shunned by his people, OBM would chance upon Bromega wrestling in his planet's capital Galactic City and become his apprentice.

Under the eye of Bromega, Omega-Bam-Man quickly rose through the ranks of the Wrestling Across the Multiverse brackets. When Bromega was seemingly killed by the executive from the Fourth World, Mr. Scuzz, OBM trained hard and got revenge, taking the title of W.A.M. champ from Scuzz in a title bout on Thanagar. Since then, Bam-Man has defended his title in countless brawls on countless planets, barreling into the paths of heroes like the Flash and Green Lantern in the process.

Respect Thread Rumble: Killers (Exquisite Corpses) vs Killers

Several killers from the 2025 Oak Valley death game are pitted against several other assassins recently posted to r/respectthreads. Standard equipment for all fighters.

Respect the Killers (Exquisite Corpses)

##The Lone Gunman vs Cassian (John Wick 2)

Lone Gunman

Cassian

Verdict

With how strong the Lone Gunman’s bullets are, I feel like Cassian’s bulletproof suit might not withstand shots as well as it typically does. His handgun shots alone create massive exit wounds and blow golf ball-sized holes in stone, and he’s seen carrying larger pieces of ordinance into Oak Valley. I feel like even if the Gunman’s shots aren’t fatal, they’d be leaving welts or breaking bones on direct hits. We also know for sure that Cassian's suit can be impaled with a knife. Of course, the Lone Gunman’s only protections are worn as a mask on his face, so either combatant would be about equal in terms of how much damage can be dealt per gunshot.

As for melee range, I also feel like both combatants are around the same level. Cassian has feats for tangling with John Wick, executing great feats of blocking, redirection and takedowns, while Lone Gunman has feats of taking a knife to a swordfight against the Fox Mask Killer. Of course, neither gunman actually gets a clean win on their opponent and they eventually end up with knives in their chests, but still, the close range combat skill is there.

An extremely close matchup, where I think the needle moves slightly closer to Cassian in melee combat and slightly towards the Lone Gunman at range. I’d give the barest nod to the Lone Gunman if only on account of his wider arsenal and him being handier with a knife.

Winner: Lone Gunman

##Rascal Randy vs the Russian (The Punisher, 2004)

Rascal Randy

The Russian

Verdict

In terms of strength, the Russian beats Randy handily. His feats of strangulation and lifting a teenager pale in comparison to the collateral damage generated by the Russian. The fact that he's capable of tossing around Frank Castle with punches or throws means he'd dominate whether in striking or grappling ranges.

The Russian also seems to have better endurance. Rabbit Randy does survive impalement and gets up before the credits roll like a true slasher villain, but his in-the-moment pain resistance is kind of bad. Compare the pencil stab scene to the Russian's knife stab scene and you can clearly see which killer can shrug off more damage mid-fight.

With no notable acts of speed for Randy, the Russian takes the stat triangle handily. The only thing going for the bunny mascot is better use of improvised weapons, but against a physical monster who laughs off stab wounds or crowbars to the face, he'd need to get really lucky to have a chance of finding something that could drop the Russian.

Winner: the Russian

##Lady Carolina vs the Green Arrow Killer (Absolute DC)

Lady Carolina

Green Arrow Killer

Verdict

The Green Arrow’s shots are massively more dangerous than Lady Carolina’s bolts thanks to their poison, which makes even a glancing blow fatal in seconds. They’re also much handier with their bow than Lady Carolina, with feats of ricocheting arrows off the environment or scoring headshots on groups of targets. Comparatively, Lady Carolina has only really grazed a moving target with her very expensive crossbow.

Close range combat is also kind of a wash. Green Arrow’s got machetes on cords while Lady Carolina doesn’t really have anything aside from her crossbow. In all fairness, she has trained with every form of weapon found in the murder games, but they’re also not part of her standard equipment and she’d need to get lucky and find an improvised weapon. Which would be challenging to pull off while being pursued by the Green Arrow Killer.

Overall, feeding the Green Arrow Killer another member of the billionaire elite could only really go one way.

Winner: the Green Arrow Killer

##Pretty Boy vs Bullseye (Marvel MAX)

Pretty Boy

Bullseye

Verdict

Strength and hand-to-hand skill goes to Bullseye, mostly because his on-panel fights are against more skilled opponents. He beats the crap out of mobsters and has survived a fight with the Punisher, while Pretty Boy directs his violence towards civilians and dies when he tries fighting someone like the Fox Mask Killer. Pretty boy does have an advantage in his hatchets, which he always has with him, while Bullseye has very little in terms of “standard arsenal” and wings most of his fights or assassinations.

In terms of endurance, Bullseye has shrugged off non-fatal gunshots and Pretty Boy has responded the same to non-lethal lacerations. Pretty Boy takes the edge for recovering shortly after the van explosion and fighting on despite his heavily burned and cut up state.

Although Bullseye is said to never miss a target, Pretty Boy's feat of ducking handgun bullets should grant him a degree of safety. His skill in tossing hatchets also means he isn't completely helpless against a foe who favors ranged combat.

Ultimately, I think the fight should favor Pretty Boy. Seeing as how he can duck bullets, the fight should move to close ranges pretty quickly, and he's handier with hatchets than Shelton is with his melee weapons or fists.

Winner: Pretty Boy

##Fox Mask Killer vs Foolkiller (Marvel MAX)

Fox Mask Killer

Foolkiller

Verdict

Both swordfighters are capable of slashing heads off with relative ease. Slight points for Foolkiller, who mixes it up with showings for cutting skulls in half or decapitating several combatants in a single slash. In terms of skill, they’re both scourges of the underworld known for massacring groups of criminals, it’s just that the Fox Mask Killer’s gang fights all happen before the death game and are implied rather than shown. For one-on-one fights, I give the slight edge to Fox Mask. Sure, Foolkiller has tangled with big names like the Punisher, but Fox Mask has personally spanked around her world’s top killers, whittling them down until they’re in pieces. Foolkiller mostly dominates no-names, but for more skilled foes like Sickle Moon or the Punisher, the fights are much harder fought or don’t result in fatalities.

Fox Mask's fighting style is also more agile and shows her exercising more verticality, whether that's by jumping off car hoods to attack from above or getting low to sweep legs. Mike is more of a straightforward, both feet on the ground kind of fighter. Still effective, but easier to read and respond to for an equal fighter.

In terms of durability, both are capable of ignoring injuries that would take the fight out of lesser combatants. Mike takes bullets while Fox Mask takes bolts, and neither seem to impede them from swinging their swords. I'd give the tiniest edge to Fox Mask, as she has a feat of fighting through a chopped up hand, which could prove very relevant against a guy who loves amputating pieces like Foolkiller.

Foolkiller definitely has advantages in equipment and stealth. The fact that he carries two handguns and his opponent only carries a kunai means that he's much more comfortable at long and mid-range. I don't think it's an automatic win, since Fox Mask is experienced in decimating gun-toting groups, but it would help. If he were to play it smart, he could disengage from direct combat and attack from stealth, maybe with a gunshot from behind that'd be tougher to evade for Fox Mask.

Overall, I'm leaning towards the Fox Mask Killer on account of her more dynamic, unorthodox fighting style and experience fighting equals, although the Foolkiller could potentially earn a win by getting creative with stealth or firearms.

Winner: Fox Mask Killer

Respect Nada (They Live)

> I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Like many drifters, the man named Nada blew into Los Angeles in pursuit of work. He joined a homeless encampment which served a number of colorful characters, including a blind street preacher warning about a secret, invisible class of people who rule over humanity. While most dismissed the preacher as a madman, Nada kept his eye on him and the church that he retreated to every night. Nada’s suspicions were validated when a militarized police force bulldozed the homeless encampment and set fire to the church.

The following day, Nada enters the church and stumbles upon a pair of nondescript sunglasses, one set in a box of a hundred. Upon wearing these shades, he finds that he can see the truth of the universe for the first time. Our advertising, our entertainment, our politics are all means to subliminally control the human population into remaining in a consciousless, dream-like state. Perhaps most terrifying is the fact that the rulers, who truly resemble insectoid, skull-faced demons, are able to hide their true forms and walk among us in the guise of humans. Armed with knowledge that many are unaware of or afraid to accept, Nada seeks to disrupt the overlords’ consciousness-dampening signals and free the human population of their mind control.

Respect Sonar (Dispatch)

With superpowers that permanently transformed him into a humanoid bat monster, no one would fault Victor for venturing into violent crime. Instead, Sonar engaged in felonies such as embezzlement, money laundering and investment fraud. He used his Harvard education to quickly become one of the most prominent white collar criminals in the San Francisco area. He was eventually apprehended and signed up for the Superhero Dispatch Network's Phoenix Program for supervillains to give back to society in exchange for clean records.

Depending on player choice, Sonar can be cut from the Z-Team by Robert, which causes him to fall in with the villain Shroud’s Red Ring gang. He’s upgraded by the villain’s bio-technology, so feats in this scenario will be in italics.

Respect Firefly (DC Comics, Post-Crisis)

> Idiot. He should have known Firefly's only real loyalty is to the flame. True, the destructive chemical Black Mask injected into my system provided the spark of inspiration. And once I had seen it work, I refined the idea, making it my own. For weeks, I moved quietly through the city gathering my "kindling". And all the while Black Mask battled Penguin and Two-Face for Gotham's corpse. Laughable. Fighting over a ruined husk that deserves only cremation. A final blaze of glory, with every lost soul dancing at its wake. Here's to Gotham, long may she burn.

Growing up in St. Evangelina Home for Orphans, Garfield Lynns always had a fascination with setting fires and watching the flames lick away at the world. While he was never adopted, he did put his fascination to use in the world of motion pictures. He was sought after by movie studios for his ability to build convincing pyrotechnic effects as only one who loved the flames could do. His success came to a halt when he put his obsession before professionalism, building a pyrotechnic effect so strong that it maimed the lead actress. Lynns was fired and turned to crime to pay the bills.

Linking up with the fledgling crook Killer Moth, Garfield decided he wanted to take on an insect theme as well. Using his experience in pyrotechnics, Garfield assembled a flameproof costume, a napalm-based flamethrower and a set of metal wings to become the Firefly. The alliance between the bugs only lasted a few chaotic nights, as Killer Moth began to see the true madness behind the eyes of his ally. Now, Firefly sets fires across Gotham City, sometimes for pay and often for pleasure, as he tries to stay ahead of the Batman.

Notes

Hover over a feat to see which comic it's from.

Firefly was initially presented as a villain with a purple and green costume with a light gimmick. By Knightfall in 1993, he was presented as the winged, black-costumed pyromaniac. While it looks like two different versions of the character, the light gimmick was used in 1986 issues of Outsiders, part of Post-Crisis canon. There's also this one photo that suggests he wore the green and purple after he became an arsonist.

Ultimately, he’s just not all that important for writers to care about canon. That time he covered ninety percent of his body in burnscar was forgotten about in his next appearance. So was that time he was killed by an OMAC unit. For these reasons, this thread covers both Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis canons for Garfield Lynns.

Featuring the Winds of Destructions (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance)

Following the collapse of Outer Heaven, the private military company World Marshall, Inc. took its place as the largest PMC on the global stage. CEO and Colorado Senator Steven Armstrong established a shell company, Desperado Enforcement, LLC., to forcibly instigate the war economy. Through Desperado, Armstrong sought to attack developing or recovering nations, keeping them in a state where battle and bloodshed would not cease through any manner of diplomacy or peace deal. The major players of Desperado would be cyborgs whose lives were defined by war themselves, codenamed the Winds of Destruction. The Winds would be scattered in 2018 following fights with an even deadlier cyborg soldier.

Technically speaking, Jetstream Sam is not considered a full member of the Winds of Destruction or affiliated with Desperado even though he’s got a wind based codename. Here is the Jetstream Sam respect thread just because.

##How to use on Whowouldwin

To fight any member of the Winds of Destruction, the most important stats to have are speed and skill. Each of them engage in melee combat at ludicrous speeds, and a combatant would need to be around as fast as Raiden to effectively block, dodge or counter their strikes.

Khamsin, chump that he is, would be the weakest member of the Winds. He's a dumb, blunt tool of a fighter, even if his massive chainsaw-axe is an extremely destructive force. Next would probably be Sundowner. His build focuses on strong defense but he's also deceptively fast with his scissor blades. After would be Mistral. She floods the battlefield with a seemingly endless army of Dwarf Gekkos, which she uses as projectiles, grappling enemies or to restore her destroyed polearm. Finally, Monsoon is the strongest of the four Winds. His fight required Raiden to be in Ripper mode the entire time to overcome his evasive segmented body and his potent telekinetic magnetism.

As a team, well, they don't really work as a team. Mistral literally had Khamsin set up and killed by Bladewolf, so they probably don't even like each other. Ironically, they get along with Jetstream Sam, the unofficial fifth Wind, because he's just that cool. Since any kind of teamwork abilities are completely theoretical, it might make sense to use the team as a gauntlet or put them up against similar sized teams so each fighter is in a one vs one.

Respect Thread Rumble: Terry (Dinosaur King) vs Dinosaurus (Invincible)

Two tyrant kings duke it out to see which one reigns and which one's (pre-)history.

##Terry (Dinosaur King) vs Dinosaurus (Invincible)

For the purposes of this fight, I’m assuming Terry has a trainer nearby that Dinosaurus just has no interest in attacking.

##Strength

Terry

Dinosaurus

Verdict

Both have great instances of smashing through sizable chunks of stone or concrete, with Dinosaurus smacking Mark into one mass and Terry doing the same or smacking it directly. Both are also great at leveraging their mouths and necks to bite or throw their enemies. Terry has the size advantage, as he is much larger than humans compared to Dinosaurus. However, the slight advantage in strength goes to Dinosaurus for managing to cut up the half-Viltrumite hero Invincible with his foreclaws, something that would help immensely if the fight saw extended periods of grappling.

##Durability

Terry

Dinosaurus

Verdict

For this category, the scaling to Invincible is a little more shaky for Dinosaurus. Mark is very much a guy who holds back against enemies until he knows they can take big hits, and when he hits Dinosaurus with a punch that’s actually serious, Dinosaurus is done in one. Terry takes big hits from his equals and keeps fighting on, even after being combo’d or launched, so I’m inclined to give him the advantage, even if it might not protect him from Dinosaurus’s claws.

##Speed

Terry

Dinosaurus

Verdict

I’ll give evasion to Terry, who’s better prepared to lean and step away from a variety of attacks, while giving combat reaction speed to Dinosaurus for that turn and grab on Invincible.

##X-Factors

Terry

Dinosaurus

  • He’s probably going to be really smart in a future appearance, but nothing yet

Verdict

I’ve read the comic, I know he’s eventually going to be able to build crazy tech, but so far there’s nothing that Dinosaurus uses outside of his physicals and natural weapons in a fight. Comparatively, Terry has a few moves that generate damaging fire or allow him to pull off crazy acrobatics. Some even summon other dinosaurs to defend or fight for Terry.

##Final Verdict

The win condition for Dinosaurus is simple: get in close and stay there, then use his claws to tear apart Terry in melee range. Since Terry is an accurately-shaped T-rex, his arms are tiny and wouldn’t help in a boxing match. A few deep slashes to the throat area could bring down the rival dino for good.

The challenge lies in getting to that position in the first place. For physical strikes, Terry enjoys using big swipes of his head or tail to knock back enemies. If he gets something in his jaws, he can rear back and throw them or use a move like Neck Crusher to fling them away, taking Dinosaurus out of the close range he needs to end the fight. Fire-based Move Cards would see Dinosaurus trapped in areas of flames or pure, incinerating heat. Summons would mean that he’d be impeded by random Pawpawsuruses or battered by swarms of energy Velociraptors. These Cards would make it tough for Dinosaurus to approach and would keep him in a position for Terry to keep spamming his special moves. This is all ignoring Terry’s DinoTector armored form, which not only makes his superior defenses better, but provided him access to moves like Ultimate Fire, Heat Eruption and Magma Blaster.

Overall, Dinosaurus could win if he gives into his inner animal, gets really close and cuts Terry up. But I find it more likely that Terry swarms and scorches Dinosaurus until he’s extinct.

##Winner: Terry!
