Respect Superman and the Colors of Kryptonite (Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum)
The Last Son of Krypton was monitoring the globe in his Fortress of Solitude when he detected a meteoroid containing several unique xenominerals . These minerals were in fact rare chunks of kryptonite, radioactive pieces of the destroyed planet Krypton, each with unique colors and effects on Superman's alien biology. Perhaps too eager to learn more about his homeworld, Clark immediately called his friend Batman to the Fortress for help in self-administering these new colors of kryptonite and researching each new effect. At the same time, his old rival Lex Luthor launched a new offensive against the Man of Steel in Metropolis, releasing monsters and madmen into the city to destroy, embarrass or discredit Superman, whichever comes first. Now, Superman has to fulfill his role as Earth's defender while contending with the mind-bending effects of the new colors of kryptonite.
Feats come from Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum and are marked with the issue number they’re from.

##Effects of Kryptonite
Green Kryptonite
Green-k hurts Superman.
- Green kryptonite is normally able to flush the effects of red kryptonite out of Superman^2
- Superboy is blasted by Toyman’s green kryptonite gun, which incapacitates him and nearly knocks him out^3
- Superman takes Kryptonite Man's green-K beam, but flies off right afterwards^5
- Kryptonite Man hits Clark across a few city blocks with a fist formed of green-K^5
Purple Kryptonite
Purple-k impairs Superman’s sense of time.
- After being exposed to purple kryptonite, Superman begins hearing and uttering disjointed spoken sentences that are later revealed to be things spoken some time in the past or future^1
- Purple kryptonite effects Superman’s hippocampus, severely impacting his ability to perceive time sequentially^1
- Superman begins getting random hallucinations of scenes from his future and past^1
- Superman experiences an entire fight with Solomon Grundy in disjointed flashes, but manages to focus enough to perceive the entire scene sequentially^1
- Over time, the effects of purple kryptonite wane. Several hours after first exposure, the radiation in Superman’s cells is down to twenty five percent, although he’s still prone to flashbacks and flash-forwards.^1
- Kryptonite Man blasts Clark with a purple beam, barraging him briefly with images of the near future and the far past, as far back as his infancy^5
Cobalt Kryptonite
Cobalt-k makes Superman grow.
- Standing near cobalt kryptonite causes Superman to grow into a giant^1
- After being exposed to cobalt K, Batman estimates that Superman is growing at a rate of four inches every twenty five minutes. The mineral’s radiation was also strong enough to penetrate the testing room’s lead shielding.^2
- He ends up growing much faster than Batman projected, reaching about three thousand feet in a few seconds. He was inside the Fortress of Solitude and ended up breaking through the roof with his head.^2
- Big Superman towers over the skyscrapers in Metropolis^2
- After extensive labwork, Batman mixes 3.5 grams of powdered cobalt kryptonite with radioactive material recovered from Chemo’s chassis, creating a mix that he hypothesizes will make Superboy into an adult again^3
- Batman’s cobalt K/Chemo mixture works, instantly restoring Superman to his adult form^3
- Kryptonite Man blasts Clark with a cobalt beam, making him a giant target for Lex Luthor's Bizarro bots. He then blasts Superman back to normal size with a speckled beam.^5
Speckled Kryptonite
Speckled-k makes Superman shrink.
- A speckled kryptonite blast is able to shrink Big Superman back down to normal size. It also flushes the effects of red kryptonite from his system.^2
- After being shrunk with speckled kryptonite and drinking the contents of the radioactive monster Chemo, Superman rapidly ages backwards until he becomes Superboy again^2
- Kryptonite Man blasts Clark with a cobalt beam, making him a giant target for Lex Luthor's Bizarro bots. He then blasts Superman back to normal size with a speckled beam.^5
- Superman starts dying of a rare, unique disease that Batman calls "fifth disease". He likens it to a pediatric illness that Superman's adult physiology struggles to overcome. To save his life, Batman reverses Superman's age to infancy using a measured dose of speckled kryptonite and Chemo’s chemicals.^5
Rainbow Kryptonite
A unique mineral with ties to the Fifth Dimension.
- Rainbow kryptonite is actually not kryptonite at all, but instead a physical “distress signal” from another dimension^3
- Batman looks at a sliver of rainbow kryptonite under an electron microscope, revealing a message from the Fifth-Dimensional imp, Mr. Mxyzptlk^3
- In the presence of rainbow kryptonite, Clark summons his Fifth Dimensional imp Kal-Elf into the real world, who then uses his 5D powers to blow up the Kryptonite Man^5
Other Colors of Kryptonite
- Black kryptonite splits his brain in two and gold kryptonite robs him of his powers^1
- Lex Luthor hits Superman with a missile powered by red kryptonite, which inverts his personality and instantly makes him cynical, angry and violent^2
- Luthor's pink kryptonite missile makes Superman a lil' zesty, but it could've just been one man appreciating another man's sense of style, who knows^5
##Equipment
Superbots
- Superbot 27 travels to space in a small, diamond-shaped spacecraft and retrieves a meteoroid while Superman oversees from the Fortress’s computers^1
- The robots were able to maintain safety of the kryptonite fragments when Superman grew and destroyed much of the Fortress^2
- An army of Superbots fight Luthor's army of Bizarro bots, although the Superbots are eventually decimated by the stronger bots^5
Other
- Has security cameras in Gotham City and communications systems to talk to Batman from his Fortress^1
- Uses a high-tech laser cannon to separate four chunks of kryptonite out of the meteoroid, despite its high molecular density^1
- Uses an energy cannon to extract the radiation of the kryptonite and direct it into a single blast, which allows Superman to take on the full effects of the kryptonite all at once^1
##Trip to the Fifth Dimension
- Superman counts to five and shouts his name backwards, transporting himself to the Fifth Dimension^3
- While his mind experiences the Fifth Dimension, his body stays stuck on Earth in an inert state, like he’s dreaming of his experience in the other dimension. Dr Fate says that if he’s not extracted in time, he could die.^4
- While in the Fifth Dimension, he conjures up his own shapeshifting imp, Kal-Elf, through thought alone^4
- Wills himself out of spaghettification in the Fifth Dimension^4
