Bricklink Studio Questions

Hi. I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post this. If not, could you please let me know where I should ask?

I’m a 68-year-old graphic designer and LEGO builder who is learning to use BrickLink Studio. I watched the introductory tutorials, although I admit I started experimenting with the program before watching them. I’m very comfortable with computers, but I’m confused about one aspect of Studio.

When I’m building and connecting parts, they don’t stay together the way physical LEGO bricks do. My instinct was to select the parts and press Cmd+G to keep them together, which created a submodel. I’m not sure if that’s actually the correct workflow or if I’m approaching this the wrong way.

If creating a submodel is the correct process, how do I add additional parts to an existing submodel? For example, I created a submodel called “Back of Bag,” and I’ve since built other sections that I now want to include in that same submodel. Is that possible.

I also am seeing that sometime what I add stay attached depending on where I click. Like if I click in the center of the whole section.

If I’m going about this incorrectly, I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain the proper way to organize and build in Studio.

Thank you!
