Starting my journey the same week I’m leaving a job that wrecked my health. Could use some motivation
I’m 69kg (5’2) and want to lose about 15kg over the next 6 months. Writing this down partly to make it real.
Some context, I’m a lawyer, about a year post-qualification, and I just resigned from a biglaw firm that completely ran me into the ground. It was the kind of place where controlling my diet was nearly impossible, no routine, no time to move, eating whatever whenever, and my body has been paying for it. Stomach issues I’m not used to, posture going, just generally feeling disconnected from taking care of myself.
I’ve got five days left of notice and then a proper break before I start something new (moving cities, back closer to family and my partner). My plan is to use the first stretch of the break to ease in rather than go full intensity on day one like get bloodwork done, see a nutritionist, work with my physio (who used to work with me when i used to play national level sports) to build workouts, and actually re-learn how to feed and move my body instead of white-knuckling it. Consistency over six months rather than burning out in three weeks.
I know the PCOS piece makes the scale move slower and I’m trying to make peace with that going in. But I’m genuinely excited for the first time in ages, and I wanted to mark the start somewhere that gets it.
If anyone’s come out the other side of a job or life situation that trashed their health and rebuilt from there, I’d love to hear it. Could really use the motivation as I start.
