It's my right hip's first birthday!
In Dec, it'll be my left hip's bday :) I'm so grateful for the chance to get my life back after a year of crippling pain, walking with a cane, missing out on doing the things I love, not being able to complete my own household chores.
These surgeries have been life-changing and I'd go through it all again without a doubt.
I had gained a lot of weight due to inactivity and the first orthopedist told me to lose 50 pounds then come back to schedule the surgery. I was highly motivated and dieted for months with no results, I was so discouraged. Several months later, I saw a second Dr who agreed to help me right away, despite the increased risks. I broke down and cried when he said, "I can help you".
I was terrified bc I'd never had surgeries before, except having babies. But everything went well, and I was walking the same day. I had my left hip done 4 months later.
Today I can walk through a grocery store, kayak, swim, snorkel, clean my own bathroom, go to concerts, dance, all sorts of stuff. Two years ago, I didn't think I'd ever go back to normal.
To anyone in this sub who's unsure if it's worth it, I say do it. I'm so grateful to all of you here that gave words of encouragement and helpful tips before and after. I learned so much ahead of time, that it really made the whole process easier.
I've attached a before xray and an after, and a sweet poem I found here on this sub, originally posted by u/Warp_Speed_7
