I think I'm starting to like Thomas 😭

first off, I need to take back what I said last week about this arc being boring and uninteresting. I sincerely apologize... 👀

I mentioned before that the clones might end up being something like the Indominus Rex genetically engineered, locked away, and once they finally escaped, they started slaughtering everything in sight

not because they were hungry, but because they wanted to find out where they stood in the food chain… and what they even were

.

the latest chapter pretty much confirmed that vibe. Raphael outright said that hiding Thomas's identity within Glory had been incredibly difficult.

Which finally makes it click why Thomas (fake Peter) wears that plain mask. It's not like Philip, who wears a mask 24/7 bc Thomas's mask is only meant to temporarily conceal who he is, so there's no need for some flashy design

.

Thaddeus also mentioned that Thomas (fake Peter) has this strange habit of constantly seeking validation of his own identity (the way I see it, "identity" here is more about existence like, "Why was I born?") that's what makes him so contradictory

he hides his own face behind a mask, yet keeps asking other people who they think he really is

.

Thaddeus said that the scary part is that Thomas craves that validation so desperately he'd even kill someone over it

Raphael praises Thomas, saying he's practically identical to Peter in his prime and maybe even stronger

he calls Thomas his masterpiece and for just a brief moment, Thomas freezes… before quietly saying thank you to Raphael

.

honestly, Thomas from Glory has it even worse than Jonzonds

his identity was manufactured from the very beginning with the sole purpose of being controlled

what's even sadder is that people like him don't even know what they are

he's neither the real Peter nor the real Thomas

he can't live as his own person and from what we've seen so far, he doesn't even come across as sadistic. I honestly think there's a chance he could eventually have a redemption arc, find the answer to who he really is, and walk away instead of continuing to serve Peter

.

it's basically the classic existential question of "Why was I born?" except turned up to eleven

he's not just questioning his purpose in life, he's questioning whether his very existence has any value at all when he was created as nothing more than a replacement for someone else

.

it's similar to Judas, but also fundamentally different

Judas measured his own worth through other people's eyes

in his mind, if he could never be as good as Peter, then he had no value everyone called him "the second Peter," but in the end, Judas was still Judas

NO ONE could ever replace him

.

Thomas from Glory, on the other hand, can never choose the path of becoming the "real Peter" A fake will always be a fake

he's just an empty shell, carrying out his assigned function like a machine

and somehow... that's even more tragic than being a robot

.

bonus: after seeing how confused Thomas is about himself, I'm this close to making him my favorite.. mentally unstable characters? right up my alley loll

every scene he's in feels like another step in his search for his own identity

but because of the conditions Glory imposed on him, he could never live a normal life in the first place. that means he can't discover who he is through ordinary life experiences

tbh, I wouldn't even be surprised if Raphael forbade him from making friends imagine spending over twenty years hiding behind a mask and concealing your identity

so instead, Thomas goes around asking other people who they think he is, piecing together all those answers in hopes of finally figuring out:

"What am I?" and "Who am I?"

the whole group of Thomas(glory) is just heartbreaking

even if the originals are gone, they'll always be treated as nothing more than counterfeits

the originals' identities will haunt them until the day they die

they were born without lives of their own from the very beginning

at that point, the only way to truly become yourself would be to shed that borrowed face entirely... and be born again

The Apostles who left Honor

Note: Judas is my only bias, and I will defend him with MY LIFE

Judas: during the Rakandia incident, after his fight with Peter, Peter was originally going to kill him but after seeing Judas's painful past and the environment that shaped him into who he was, Peter changed his mind. instead, he stripped Judas of his Apostle title and erased his name from Honor's records, forcing him to live as if he were dead (it actually makes sense that he never continued his combat training afterward)

later on, when Judas teamed up with Raphael, that essentially made him an Apostle of Glory as well. he's currently the only Apostle who's been part of both the Honor and Glory generations

Nathaniel: her guilt resurfaced after she found Peter's diary about Hannah. it made her realize that although Peter always acted cold and distant, he actually cared about Hannah deeply

Nathaniel couldn't bring herself to stay in Honor anymore because everything kept reminding her of Hanna, so she left behind a letter asking everyone not to look for her

Thomas: he had good intentions, but his actions crossed the line. he used abilities that were meant to protect people for gambling instead. Peter warned him multiple times, and eventually Thomas felt guilty enough to leave Honor. till these days, his sensation seeking tendencies have mellowed out a bit with age, but he still likes dropping by gambling tables every now and then

he doesn't really spend the money on himself anymore because he still feels guilty, he just enjoys the thrill of playing

according to current information, he's also somehow involved in one of James Minor's projects

Thomas's Disassemble Skill

-Thomas' main ability is Disassembly. he can take apart not just weapons but body parts too, although so far he hasn't been shown disassembling someone's body with his bare hands

-one of his best feats is disassembling Simon's sword, which is way more complex than a gun. he even pulled it off while Simon was still holding it

-Thomas can disassemble either an entire object or just specific parts of it. eg. he can remove the bullets from a gun without damaging the gun itself, as long as it's within his range

-this ability also makes him really good at stealing and hiding things

-he's especially good with playing cards, he can hide them so well that even if he's completely stripped naked and searched, you still wouldn't find them (They're probably hidden in his hat)

Hanna's therapy

the reasons why I think that Raphael made Andrew hypnotize Hanna to think of him as Peter work better than to make Hanna love him.

note: so I just finished watching 'Obsession' in the theater and have a thought about this

  1. Pasatra might not work on emotions, it only works on action. that's why Kasem replaced himself as Sungu in Thaddeus's memories
  2. or if it really works on emotions, Hanna will be acting weird, also the term of 'love' has a lot of meaning; it'd be really messed up if the 'LOVE' turns out to be romantic, not platonic
  3. replacing himself as someone she already trusted is an easier way than building up his new identity because Hanna will know him as Raphael; he might be an important person in Hanna's life, but NEVER be her first priority
  4. Hanna's feelings are genuine, pure. so replaced himself as Peter, guaranteeing that 100% Hanna won't betray him (a lot of apostles betrayed him already lol)
