Gelding only during particular moon phases?

Y’all. I have never heard of this, but maybe you have.

I’m looking at buying a horse located in a very rural area about two hours from home.

Vet options in the area are limited for the PPE. I called a vet that was recommended to me by someone. I inquired about gelding the horse sometime after the PPE, as I’ll really need him gelded before I can take him to any barn I’m considering.

They said the vet only does the procedure during particular phases of the moon! A Google search shows me this is some ancient folklore and not evidence-based practice.

I must say, in my almost three decades of horse experience, I’ve never encountered this before.

Anyone else heard of this?!

A little derealization that felt… good?

I don’t know how to really put this, but I have been on 10mg of fluoxetine since the end of April. Last week, when it had been a month on the medication, things started to feel different. Suddenly, things weren’t hitting me quite as hard. Something that might have before caused me stress and panic at work felt suddenly less stressful and panic-inducing.

But I had this feeling on one day last week that felt good in the moment but I wasn’t sure if it was a sustainable feeling for me. Fortunately, it has gone away. I felt like I had this fuzzy, invisible barrier between myself and the world. I felt almost insulated from the realities of the world. I felt good though. I was in a great mood, though I felt a little out of it. My sense of urgency seemed to be gone, which is good for me (as someone who operates with way too much of a sense of urgency), but I was wondering if I’d be able to even keep up with the demands of my work when I felt so… not rushed, not caring. In some ways, it was freeing. In other ways, it was disorienting and so out of character for me. Is this derealization? Can anyone relate to this feeling?

How to know if I should increase my dose?

I’ve been on 10mg for about a month.

I’m meeting with my doctor tomorrow to discuss how it has been going and see if we should adjust the dose.

I’m getting really in my head (of course, that’s why I’m on Prozac!) about whether to advocate for an increase to 20mg or if I should just stay at 10mg for a while.

It seems like 20mg is the lowest therapeutic dose, so I feel like I should be on that, or at least try it.

I haven’t noticed too much of a change in my anxiety levels but also am not sure even about that. To be honest, work is usually super anxiety inducing for me, but I’m in a calmer season at work right now. So how do I know if it’s just work not being crazy, or if it’s Prozac working?

I have not noticed too many side effects. I do feel overall like I’m sweating more, especially at night. I’ve also had two instances over the past week of headaches that have come on a bit strongly and suddenly. I do tend to get headaches sometimes, but usually they come on slowly. These headaches were like boom, all of the sudden my head hurts, and it continues for a while. I had a headache all night last night and woke up a few times and thought “yup, it’s still there.”

Anyway—how did you know if you should advocate for a dose increase for yourself or just stay at your current mg?
